Fiat Panda 4×4 Antartica – toasting 30 years of cuddly

fiat panda antartica 01

The Fiat Panda turns 30 this year, and it has been chugging along nicely since its debut in 1983, with more than 400,000 examples having been sold over three generations of the model type.

To celebrate the Panda’s 30th birthday, the automaker has come up with the Panda Antartica – the Frankfurt debutant is a limited-edition offering, based on the 4×4 Rock trim level available for the current third-gen Panda. It’s set to go on sale in Europe at the end of the year.

The edition features two-tone bodywork – white with a black roof – along with grey diamond finish 15-inch alloy wheels featuring orange centre caps, orange mirror fairings, fog lights, privacy windows and a special badge on the B-pillar. The interior, meanwhile, is dressed in grey and orange upholstery.

The Panda 4×4 Antartica, which will be available in 0.9 TwinAir Turbo 85 HP and diesel 1.3 MultiJet II 75 HP engine options, both with Start&Stop as standard, rides on specifically- developed 175/65 R15 84T M+S Snow Flake tyres. Despite the all-weather badging, nothing abnormal looking about these rubbers, unlike the ones worn by the Fiat Panda Monster Truck.
