Another one that’s turned up in Frankfurt is the facelifted Skoda Yeti, showing off its new front and rear. Gone are the unique round secondary headlamps, and there’s a new front bumper with rectangular fog lamps, reshaped headlamps and Skoda’s current corporate grille.
The tail lamps get new C-shaped graphics, the badges on the tailgate are now in capitals and there’s the current Skoda logo. Two variations are available: the regular Skoda Yeti (below) and the Skoda Yeti Outdoor (above).
The regular Yeti’s bumpers, skid plates, side trim and door sills are body-coloured. The Yeti Outdoor gets black plastic mouldings, silver door mirrors, bolder and more vertical grille slats, plus more rugged-looking bumpers with more prominent contrasting-coloured skid plates.
Both come in all-wheel drive (fifth-gen Haldex coupling with EDS electronic diff lock) and front-wheel drive versions, and should launch in Europe by the end of this year.
The interior gets new steering wheels in seven variations. Seat fabrics, patterns and dashboard trims are also new. Four new alloy wheel designs are offered, and the colour palette has expanded to include Moon White, Jungle Green, Metal Grey and Magnetic Brown.
A VarioFlex system enables the three rear seats to be folded individually or even removed. Take out the middle seat and the outer seats can be shifted length-ways or cross-ways, making more space for rear passengers, who already enjoy 1,027 mm of headroom. There are fold-away tray tables on the front seat backs, too.
The boot can hold at least 405 litres of cargo. Slide all the rear seats forward and you get 510 litres; take out all rear seats and you get a cavernous 1,760 litres.
Standard and optional equipment include Optical Parking Assistant, cornering fog lamps, bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, keyless entry and start, a panoramic tilt and slide sunroof, auto dual-zone climate control, heated seats, cruise control and an electrically-adjustable driver’s seat. ABS with BA and ESC are standard across the range, and up to nine airbags are available.
Available engines are 105 hp 1.2 TSI and 120 hp 1.4 TSI petrols, and 105 hp 1.6 TDI, 140 hp 2.0 TDI and 170 hp 2.0 TDI diesels. The 1.4 TSI, 1.6 TDI and lower-powered 2.0 TDI can be had in fuel-efficient Green tec versions.
The Green tec 1.6 TDI is mated to a seven-speed DSG; the Green tec 2.0 TDI to a six-speed manual. The front-wheel drive 120 hp 1.4 TSI with a six-speed manual is only available as a Green tec.
All Green tec variants get a start-stop system, regenerative braking and low-rolling resistance tyres. Still, they don’t match the fuel efficiency of the Skoda Yeti GreenLine. Equipped with a 105 hp 1.6 TDI motor, front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual, this variant can return 4.6 litres of diesel per 100 km and emit 119 grams of CO2 per km.
The 170 hp 2.0 TDI comes with all-wheel drive and a six-speed DSG, while the front-wheel drive 105 hp 1.6 TDI can now be had with a seven-speed DSG.

I have a soft spot for the Yeti. Well priced and very usable and frugal. See many of them in Europe.
There a nice blue unit running around here, and it would be nice if Skoda actually brings them in.

Ive ever drove Yeti when I was in UK last 2 years and drive the 1.6TDI one,bulletproof body and quite reliable even going country roads
Why nobody here mentioned about Kia Soul? This Yeti exterior design is funky like Kia Soul sold in US. Having good powerful engine is one of the selling points. And yes it’s quite a successful model there.
the yeti is bigger than the soul, it’s a SUV, that’s why.
