Here is the first official image of the new Honda Mobilio MPV, which has made its world debut at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta. Previously seen via a sketch and leaked slides, the new MPV has been developed exclusively for Asian markets.
UPDATE: More details and live gallery of the Mobilio here.
The Honda Mobilio, which is based on the Brio platform, will mark Honda’s entry into the lower priced MPV (low MPV) category, which is the biggest segment in high-growth Indonesia. Rivals that are waiting include the market leading Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia twins, Suzuki Ertiga and the Chevrolet Spin, among others.
Honda said that it developed the Mobilio based on research conducted in Indonesia regarding local road and weather conditions, and customer needs. While offering a cabin with three-row seating for seven occupants, the Mobilio’s compact-sized body fits well with the general size of parking lots in Indonesia, which are typically below 4.4 metres in length, according to Honda.
Local road surface conditions have also been taken into consideration, and ground clearance is pretty high as a result. In fact, the 185 mm clearance of the Mobilio is 15 mm higher than that of the Honda CR-V, so light kerb climbing shouldn’t be a problem for this MPV.
The Honda Mobilio MPV is powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC engine “realising both excellent driving performance and fuel economy.” Previously leaked slides show the availability of a manual gearbox for the basic S and E models as well as a CVT for the top of the range E variant. Production will be at the new Karawang plant that will begin operations in January next year.
“Working closely with Honda operations here to study the unique needs of Indonesian customers, this Honda Mobilio will fulfill the dreams of Indonesian customers for an affordable family car featuring Honda’s high standard of quality,” said Takanobu Ito, president and CEO of Honda.

honda’s version of innova
avanza
So that 1.5 engine same as Honda Freed?
looks like it will be better than Freed!!!
No sliding doors. It won’t be better than the Freed. Also keep in mind the Freed was designed for Japanese… the Mobilio for Indonesians. I think the Japanese are a bit more demanding…
1 pic only?
It would have looked much better if the window line continue on from the B-pillar instead of sagging it down. Nevertheless, much better looking than a equivalent Avanza, probably safer too.
Sagging it down gives the kids sitting at the back the chance to look out of the window. Also the car won’t look as tall that way. Actually a pretty good design. It doesn’t look like a cheap car. Nice Kia rims too.
Brio engine based …
Another junk from the Japanese meant to milk the Asians for all its worth… Sigh…
Likes proton Exora..
Datsun Go+ has nicer side profile compare to this.
Yeah, thumbs me down Hondarians..hehe
so, any numbers on power to ratio, compare it with datsun go, alza and avanza?

I saw this car at Indonesia International Car. It’s 1500 cc car, 7 seaters car, estimate 150 until 180 Million IDR Price. It will be a good car in that range of price ( Value for money). Nice design , safer with 2 air bags and ABS EBD brake. It will be a new alternative choice for customer to buy this low MPV car beside Avanza, Xenia , Ertiga dan Spin. If we want to buy a cheaper one , we can choice Datsun Go+ , with price below 100 Million IDR. Have a nice choice.
