Porsche 911 Turbo, Turbo S Cabriolet unveiled

porsche 911 turbo cabriolet

Following the reveal of the Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S back in May are their cabriolet counterparts, which step out of the shadows ahead of their LA show debut in November. The cars get a fabric roof with a magnesium frame that opens and closes in around 13 seconds, at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Additionally, Porsche says the roof maintains a coupe-like arch when closed.

The cars otherwise remain the same as their fixed-roof brethren – the turbocharged 3.8 litre flat-six develops 520 hp in the Turbo Cab and 560 hp in the Turbo S Cab, accelerating them to 100 km/h from rest in 3.5 and 3.2 seconds respectively before hitting a top speed of up to 315 km/h.

Fuel consumption (NEDC) is quoted at 9.9 litres per 100 km; CO2 emissions at 231 grams per km. So that means they’re 30 hp up, 0.2 seconds quicker to 100 km/h and up to 15% more efficient than their 997-series predecessors. Learn more about the 991-series Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S here.

perhaps the most stupid and ignorant comment ever made on this forum – go and visit the Porsche factory – it is sheer genius how they design, engineer and make these cars.

The 911 is the thinking man’s ferrari – a super car u can use every day.

The 911 turbo is not a sports car, its a supercar already. The Cayman is sports car, but is bloody close to matching the 911. To the point they gave the Cayman a less powerful engine, so as not to upset 911 owners. COnsidering the grand scheme of things, the 911, as much of an icon as it is, is beginning to get stiff competition in house. Porsche really need to do something to differentiate it further from the Cayman, if not people are just gonna buy the Cayman (which is cheaper), but with same driving dynamics (and is less rear heavy). Of course, the top of the line 911 (turbo & GT3) is still far more powerful/faster than the top of the line Cayman lah, if not Porsche afficionados are gonna go berserk.

Anyways, the 911 is a reminder from Porsche that they CAN make rear heavy cars handle well (with small rear seats for contortionists too!). As long as Richard Hammond & Mr Bean loves the 911, Porsche will continue making them.
