SPIED: Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG in Langkawi

Merc A45 AMG 1

Back in August, a black-coloured example of the Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG was sighted at JPJ Putrajaya undergoing type approval. The pocket rocket hasn’t been officially launched yet, but we believe its arrival should be quite soon. The white car you see here was spotted in Langkawi by reader Richard K.

When it arrives here, the 2013 Geneva debutant will join the A 200 and A 250 Sport and sit at the top of the third-gen W176 A-Class range. It’s equipped with a hand-built AMG 2.0 litre twin-scroll turbo four-pot, and the M132 is good for 360 hp at 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm at 2,250 to 5,000 rpm.

An AMG Speedshift DCT seven-speed dual-clutch sports transmission is directly flange-mounted on the transversely-installed lump, with AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive present. Performance specs include a 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds and an electronically-limited 250 km/h top speed.

Prior to the W176 A-Class being launched in Malaysia, a sales advisor posted a pre-launch booking listing on oto.my, with an indicative price of RM338,888 for the A 45 AMG. Seeing as he got the RM199k and RM239k price tags right for the A200 and A250 Sport, he might also have gotten it right for this one, but we’ll know when the time comes. In any case, it’ll definitely be cheaper in Langkawi.

Mercedes A45 amg, the most powerful production 4 pot 2 litre to date.

FYI. Mitsubishi Evo X FQ400 is not a production car. It is a tuned car by rally art. EVO x actual HP is 300 hp.

well a BMW 135i coupe costs around RM400k+ here & around 30-36k UK pounds depending on trim level. However the A45 AMG is about a grand more (37k UK pounds) than the 135i. So the A45 might be around RM420k++ in Malaysia…

    • Cant compare like that, our malaysian tax structure is based on CC, so naturally the 135i with a 3.0L engine will be alot more expensive then the A45 which has a 2.0L engine

Sad there are no manual option for this car…. Audi S3 and BMW M135i do offer manual tranny… Hmm, even supercars nowadays comes with flappy paddles, no stick and three pedals anymore.. Maybe lap times and performance will be better, but nothing beats the joy and pleasure of stick and three pedals… By the way, this car in my opinion looks better than S3 and M135i… Looks like a beast, especially with white colour and black rims..

No offence AMG, but it does look a lil bit over-done. Sure those fins in front serve an aero purpose, but colouring them black (contrasting with the white body colour) just screams in your face “look at me!”, rather than hinting *wink-wink* look at me.

Anyways, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And mine prefers to look at the Audi RS3 (the old one mind you since new one not out yet) :)
