Kia K900 – US-spec sedan to debut in Los Angeles

kia-k900-1

So that’s the name they’ve chosen instead. After facing an injunction over the Quoris name, which was originally intended for the Kia K9‘s export markets, Edmunds reports that the rear-wheel drive flagship sedan will be sold in the US from next year as the Kia K900.

It’s set to turn up at next month’s LA show, in US-market form. Kia Motors America spokesman Scott McKee told Edmunds that a V6 and a V8 will be available, but declined to reveal any other details – including whether the car is based on the recently-updated Hyundai Equus. The Kia K900 will sit above the Kia Cadenza (K7 in Korea), which launched in the US at the start of the year.

In Korea, the K9 (as it is known there) is powered by either a 300 PS/348 Nm 3.3 litre GDI V6 or a 334 PS/395 Nm 3.8 litre GDI V6 – although a 290 PS/358 Nm 3.8 litre MPI V6 was previously available. Regardless of the engine, transmission should be taken care of by an eight-speed ‘shift by wire’ auto. The V8 option should be a 429 hp/510 Nm 5.0 litre Tau unit, but which of those Lambda V6s will the US get?

Another rubbish car from the rubbish manufacturer.

Call it whatever you want, K3, K5, K7… the fact of the matter is, this car is as good as K-leh-feh (for non Chinese readers its synonym to being an extra in a film set).

    Utter rubbish

  • Regardless of whatever brand it is, car manufacturers are trying to put out the best product they can to entice new buyers. This is an example of it for the US market. Now if you look at M’sia, all they try to do is to bring down the price(bare spec, tiny engines,…). Industry needs an overhaul here. It has to start from you know where.

Haters will hate. Thats just human nature. Whether it is Toyota, Honda, or Kia or even the Hyundai, none is perfect. There will always be that slight imperfection here and there. So don’t judge a car by its brand. Go and check it out for yourselves before passing verdicts, which are usually unfair and untrue. Hey!! Even German marques are built with imperfections from time to time okay.

Ha Gnih is true. Do we still remeber this motto:

“DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER”

It also happens on these cars. Have you imagined how you all appreciated Toyota, honda, and all the Japaneserands because they are Japanese, good-qualitied, and durable!? LOOK AGAIN. even Sportages look better than a CR-V. Kia Picanto is the most durable small car in Asia. Carens wins the reddot design award, remembering it is an MPV. Hyundai Starex was one of the best and forever the best people mover. Hyundai Santa-Fe is one of the best Midsize SUV. KIA could make Optima Hybrid. Hyundai Veloster.

All of the Koreans that you never notice: They didn’t copy the European design. They ARE European-designed. The chief of KIA’s designing team was Peter Schreyer who made Audi TT. As for Hyundai, they are designed by chief Thomas Burkle.

As the year flows, KIA and Hyundai both developed strong-talented machines. The could smoke some of the other bigger brands, easily.

But don’t ever take them with the image: Korean. In our lives, beside of learning ourselves, we learn from the things around us. As that is developing in the two manufacturers; they learn from the other manufacturers. see how can they develop this and that, it’s time for us to NOT underestimate them and let them as a good brand.

      Remember: Even a Rolls-Royce Phantom or Mercedes-Benz S is not everyone’s taste.
