It may be showtime in Tokyo next week, but Guangzhou and Los Angeles are also set to have their share of premieres – it’s at the latter that Honda has chosen to give its FCEV Concept its global debut.
Ahead of that, the automaker has released a solitary sketch of the hydrogen fuel-cell electric study, which essentially previews the next-generation Clarity. Details haven’t been divulged, and all the company is saying thus far is that the car will express a potential styling direction for a production FCEV set for market introduction in 2015 in the US and Japan, with Europe to follow after.
The FCX Clarity, of which a limited run production was introduced and leased to certain customers, is equipped with a fuel cell stack offering 100 kW (or 134 hp) and 256 Nm of twist, with a 171 litre hydrogen tank offering the vehicle a 570 km operating range. The new FCEV should no doubt better the previous car’s numbers – more when it debuts in LA next week.

I liked the idea of the FCX. Just hope that when Honda releases a production version, there will be enough hydrogen stations for it to succeed.
Is it gonna be on lease only, similar to the FCX? Cos a hydrogen powered car is very expensive to design and to manufacture. Dont know if costs are already down now.
