Subaru XV Crosstrek – 55-unit limited edition, RM162k

Subaru XV Crosstrek-6

Motor Image showed the Subaru XV Crosstrek at KLIMS13, a kitted-up version of the locally-assembled XV crossover. The XV Crosstrek is limited to 55 units and is priced at RM162,486 on-the-road with insurance.

The extra accessories include a sport mesh grille, roof spoiler, front/rear/side resin underguard, cargo step panel, side sill plates and LED daytime running lights, the latter located below the front fog lamps.

Inside, you’ll find an STI gear shift knob, bespoke leather upholstery and matching customised carpet mats. The car here is in a striking orange, but the Crosstrek is available in other colours as well, we are told.

There are no mechanical changes. The Segambut-assembled Subaru XV is powered by a FB-series 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated boxer engine with 150 PS at 6,200 rpm and 196 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. Drive goes to all wheels through an Active Torque Split AWD system and a Lineartronic CVT with six virtual ratios.

The XV’s equipment list includes Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), cruise control, reverse sensor, steering wheel shift paddles, dual front and driver’s knee airbags, automatic air-con and a two-DIN touch-screen AV system with remote that brings together DVD, USB, iPod, Bluetooth and GPS, among other things.

All the body kit can’t justify the RM33k extra, treating Malaysia as fool or what? Get CX5 better, at least got full set of safety features with more reasonable price. I could have bought the XV if is full spec safety (6 airbags) at 129k. Sorry la. I find the CX5 more fun to drive. If I have a budget of 162k, I will take Kuga, better safety and more quiet and powerful.

  • Seriously,I value my life more than my car. 3 airbags only, no performance, they must take Malaysian drivers for fools. Or are we?
