Lexus has taken the wraps off the 2014 Lexus CT 200h facelift at the 2013 Guangzhou Motor Show. The renewed CT 200h takes on the new Lexus spindle grille on the front end, and also gets a new rear bumper design, new alloy wheels, and a new shark fin style roof antenna.
In the interior, there’s a new 370mm steering wheel that matches the new design in the Lexus IS range. The instrument cluster can now be had with an integrated 4.2 inch TFT multi-info display. The central TFT multimedia display screen is now of a thinner, fixed design, and the car gets an updated Lexus Remote Touch Interface, but it’s not the latest touchpad version found in the new RC Coupe.
New features include a a rear view monitor, a Tyre Pressure Warning system and a Traction Control ‘Off’ switch. Although the power outputs of the hybrid system remain the same, the e-CVT system mapping has been remapped for a more linear build-up of revs to match the car acceleration, helping create a drive feel more similiar to a normal automatic transmission. There are upgrades in the audio department too – the CT 200h gets new loudspeakers which use bamboo fibre, plant opal and charcoal in the injection moulding process to create the industry’s thinnest loudspeaker diaphragm.
Lexus claims that 94 measures have been made to improve NVH . Body rigidity has been improved through additional spot welding and structural adhesives. Increased rigidity has allowed for suspension re-tuning. Coil spring rates have been optimised, a new shock absorber valve adopted, and the rear stabiliser bar diameter altered for better ride comfort. There’s also a new inlet duct to improve intake efficiency and quietness.

How many spindle grill do we see on the road here? Not that many. The spindle grill was to meet market demand in US. I bet they will revert to something sensible for the next version.
