Here’s a gallery of the Honda N-WGN at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show – this is the fourth model in Honda’s new N-Series kei line-up (the others are the N Box, N Box+ and N-One). Two versions will be on sale in Japan from tomorrow – N-WGN and N-WGN Custom.
The N-WGN duo can be had with 2WD or 4WD – they measure 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide and 1,655 mm tall (1,675 mm for the 4WD), and sit on a 2,520 mm wheelbase. The rear seats can slide 200 mm fore and aft – a first for the N-Series range. Underneath them is a large storage tray, and the boot’s under-floor is a significant 290 mm deep.
Both get a 58 PS/65 Nm 660 cc twin-cam three-cylinder engine and a CVT – opt for the range-topping G Turbo Package and you get a turbocharger that gives you 64 PS and 104 Nm of torque. The blown motor should be the same one to power the production 2015 Honda S660 Concept. Fuel economy ranges from 24.2 to 29.2 km per litre on the JC08 cycle.
The N-WGN Custom gets a different headlamp and grille assembly, an aggressive-looking front bumper with fog lamp housings, a different rear bumper, side skirts, thin-spoked sports wheels and a tailgate spoiler.
Inside, there’s a three-spoke steering wheel and a simple, uncluttered dashboard with lots of cubbyholes. The Custom gets a two-tone black and burgundy interior, with metallic trim on the dash, air vent and door handle surrounds, fabric/leather mix seats and an upgraded instrument panel that features a rev counter and white backlighting for the multi-info display.
Standard safety kit includes VSA, Hill Start Assist and Emergency Stop Signal (blinks hazard lamps during hard braking). City-Brake Active, side curtain airbag and front seat i-side airbag are standard on G A Package and G Turbo Package, but are available as options on the base G Package.
