Infiniti have finally announced the availability of a smaller displacement turbocharged petrol engine for its range. The new 2.0 litre turbocharged engine will see its first usage in the company’s 3-Series fighter the Infiniti Q50, and when the Q50 is eventually launched here, it will be available with that engine.
The new 2.0 litre four cylinder turbocharged direct injection engine produces 214 PS at 5,500rpm and 320Nm of torque from 1,250rpm to 3,500rpm. Looking at the power outputs, it replaces Infiniti’s current normally aspirated 2.5 litre engine.
The 1,911cc engine is sourced from Daimler AG, and so is the gearbox, which is the 7G-TRONIC PLUS seven-speed auto. Power output is the same as in the 2.0 litre engine in the facelifted W212 Mercedes-Benz E250 but it has 30Nm less torque compared to the E250’s 350Nm.
The new 2.0 litre motor joins an existing Daimler 170 PS/400Nm 2.2 litre four cylinder diesel, as well as Infiniti’s own 306 PS/350Nm 3.5 litre petrol hybrid and 333 PS/365Nm 3.7 litre petrol engines.

First…kali ini
Now this could be interesting. Watch and learn Lexus, this is the way it is done
Now this is really something to look forward: Japanese premium car price with German Engine Tech.
Jap Benz..
What about the transmission?
This car have no soul. Cheap!
Nissan body with merc heart. Do they sync at first place?
Unlike mazda. Build from engine to body in 1 piece.
its good for sales…but as an enthusiast i’ve never really been intrigued by a merc engine i prefer nissan engines….why can’t you guys develop a new RB engine
From a company that made the epic, Porsche ass-kicking GTR…. sourcing an engine from Daimler is lame.
Ah well, them Proton main bon-tot fan boys can rejoice. Infiniti pun guna njin orang lain, pasal apa Proton tak leh nak rebagde Honda/Mitsubishi. Tukar badge aje, kan tuh lagi jimat? Takyah nak bina body pun. Hidup Proton!
everyone wants to save money la nowadays..especially when developing low-volume cars..
I’ll take one if it price point lower than the E-class..I think it purposely tune for less torque than the W212
This competes with C-Class so surely it’s going to be cheaper than E-Class.
Merc is just so good that provide Nissan the engine to compete with their C-Class
Looking forward to this car. Bye-bye garish Lexus, Ive found a new one.
Its a great looking car for sure. Saw it at KLIMS recently, but I still find the Lexus IS interior best in class, until the new C Class comes along lah (and then new A4).
Now with 2.0 turbo power should make this a very interesting car in Malaysia. But just wondering why didnt they source a 2.0 turbo from their partner, Renault, instead of MB? Guess a Megane RenaultSport engine would feel to sporty for a luxury car, though it can be detuned.
my rough guess would be reliability? Since Japanese are more into reliability and it could be the MB engine reliability is better than Renault’s engine.
Daimler AG and mercedes benz same company?
Heard from 1 of the guys infiniti malaysia klims booth they will launch this car around march 2014 and price below 250k if possible
Pity those who purchase pre-facelift 2.5V6 engine recently with great discount. Just like the F10 523 replaced by 520 2.0 turbo N20 engine….it RV drop until mother can not recognize son….
I hope the price is below 300k though. BMW F30 is to mainstream, shld try something different.
