BMW 2-Series Active Tourer completely undisguised!

It’s official – the production version of the BMW Concept Active Tourer will be called the BMW 225i Active Tourer, and here are the first photos revealing the car undisguised.

Our spy photographers captured this production 225i Active Tourer during an official photoshoot. As expected, the concept’s body was pretty close to the production car, save for some toning down on some design elements. It will probably use a variation of the 125i’s four-cylinder turbocharged engine, but mounted transversely for a front-wheel-drive setup.

The 225i name though, is a little confusing. We expected BMW’s first FWD car to be called the 1-Series GT, but now it turns out that it has a 2-Series badge instead. BMW says even numbers are for ‘coupes’ (save for the four-door Gran Coupes) and the odd numbers are for regular cars, so does this mean Munich actually considers this Mercedes B-Class fighter a coupe?

The longer seven-seater version that we’ve seen in spyshots accompanying this five-seater model will be coming later. We wonder what BMW will call it, 2-Series Grand Active Tourer perhaps?

thank goodness BMW doesn’t consider it an SUV, else it will be called X2 Gran Active Tourer xDrive35i for the 4-wheel drive 7-seater version. good luck with the name reading……lol……German car makers really have no idea how to cut the name short sometimes….

From the angles in the photos above, it sort of resembles the B-Class from Mercedes-Benz. But nonetheless, I think it looks fairly attractive. If priced well, this car would be selling like hot cakes. Just like the current B-Class.

Well, if you drive this car around and try to ‘fish’ young and beautiful women, I am sure you can have a very well fruitful fishing trip with it.

I think that’ll be the car formerly known as 1 series coupe that did that laptime. The 2 series is a RWD coupe, the 2 series Active Tourer is a FWD MPV.

FWD means more legroom for rear passengers especially those sitting in the middle. Perfect for a family car.

Looks good so far and this was designed to compete with the B Class and is for a certain segment of customers.

I think young families will like this very much.

can’t blame BMW for trying when there’s huge money in that particular market. doing car business nowadays is tough, and is especially tough when you are doing it alone like BMW where you need to come up with almost everything by yourself, and not “borrowing” from other companies within your group of companies. you don’t expect other competitors to be so generous to share just about everything with you, do you?

  • I am currently driving a Mercedes B class. If I were to see this BMW around right next to my car,I would be annoyed. Am already annoyed with people calling me the “mom” since its a moms car.

    • Please don’t be annoyed…its a love and hate thing for me too with the B-Class. I love the design but hate it when people classified it as a woman’s car. i bet these people never saw a Brabus tuned B-Class..simply superb

B Class is ugly imo and dull but never heard it´s a woman¨s car.

The new BMW looks very cool – much more dynamic than the Mercedes.
