2014 Lancia Delta unveiled – new trim for the new year

You know it’s a slow week in the carniverse when we’re talking about Lancias, but here we are. This is the 2014 Lancia Delta, and it gets a minor refresh for the new year. How minor? Well, the previously-plastic body claddings are now painted in body colour, and twin exhaust pipes jut out of the back.

Inside, the Delta gets updated with so-called “more contemporary-looking” trim, with a combination of glossy and matte black surfaces replacing the outgoing car’s silver bits. Perforated black or beige leather seats are also new.

Three engines are available: a 1.6 litre MultiJet turbodiesel with 105 hp or 120 hp, and a 1.4 litre T-Jet petrol that makes 120 hp and 206 Nm of torque. The T-Jet is now LPG-approved, and gets to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds.

Sold in the UK with a Chrysler badge, the Delta is essentially a stretched, more upscale version of my personal steer, the current Fiat Bravo. The Lancia obviously isn’t, but the Fiat was officially sold here in Malaysia a few years back in 150 hp manual and 120 hp Duologic forms.

Like an Italian designer suit… The design may not be the most practical there is, but especially the rear is very nice. The C pillar for example. Sadly the interior is a bit too boring for that exterior.
