Teased here is the Nissan Sport Sedan concept that’s set to debut at the upcoming NAIAS 2014 in Detroit on January 13. It’s rumoured to point towards the next-gen Nissan Maxima.
The Japanese carmaker says it “previews a new energetic design direction that amplifies Nissan’s legendary approach of applying sports car principles to a sedan”. The third-gen Maxima (J30) was marketed in the US as a “4-Door Sports Car”, so…
The IDx Freeflow and IDx Nismo concepts you saw in Tokyo will also be there; they’ll be making their North American debut.

Is this with the mercedes engine?
i realy want nissan car look sexy n hot
Past Maximas have been FWD (since the mid 80s), and this looks to be about the same (notice the windscreen/cabin forward design). Sports cars are usually RWD. So, how is it that Nissan is applying sports car principle to this then?
Anyways, past Maximas have been very sexy looking cars, so hope this one is too.
Simple.
Despite being FWD, the Maxima has always been speedy chariots. The VQ30 in the 5th gen (1995)paired with a manual would out gun a lot of cars with more sporty pretentions.
Basically in the mid 90s, no other Japanese marque had anything close to it. The Accord had yet to acquire a V6 engine and the Camry has always been a Camry.
In fact, stock for stock, it could nearly match a Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo AWD to 100, and just loose by a hair to the 1/4. It would put (non M and AMG)German sports sedans to shame.
It handled pretty well to boot and the VQ30 was a really sweet engine. It had character. It was certainly a memorable experience driving one.
Being FWD doesn’t mean it cant be sporty. Tell that to the following of Honda pocket rockets and GTI enthusiasts.
too bad, like most cars, it grew fat. We basically got the bloated Infiniti I30 / Cefiro version of the 5th gen Maxima and it all went downhill from there.
The legend of the Maxima ended with the 5th gen. Perhaps Nissan would like to bring it back to its roots.
Last I heard people are saying Audi and VW make sporty cars, and both make FWD cars. I also heard people saying Lexus make crappy cars despite Lexus making the IS which is RWD. Your point is?
sigh… why mat salleh advertisement usually condemn on their competitor product?? why can’t they just show their prospective customer how good their product is and what it can do, instead of critising their competitor??
Seen many Infiniti in Taipei before.
The curves on these babes can only be appreciated when seen in 3D.
