Peugeot 308 SW revealed ahead of Geneva debut

Peugeot 308 SW-08

The new Peugeot 308 made its debut as a five-door hatchback late last year, so a wagon version of the European C-segment mainstay is all but expected. This is it, the Peugeot 308 SW, set to debut at the Geneva show in March.

Carrying over the newfound simple lines and solid image of the 308, the Peugeot 308 SW is 4.58 metres long, 330 mm longer than the hatch. Boot capacity is claimed to be class-leading at 610 litres. Rear seats are folded with a single action from inside the boot and the floor is fully flat. Like its EMP2 modular platform hatch sibling, the 308 SW is 140 kg lighter than its predecessor.

Engine choices should mirror the hatch. The list includes a 1.2 VTi three-cylinder with 82 hp, a 1.2 e-THP turbocharged three-pot producing either 110 hp or 130 hp, and a 1.6 THP with 125 hp or 156 hp. Diesel engine options include a 1.6 HDi (92 hp or 115 hp) and a 150 hp 2.0 litre BlueHDi. The latter emits just 85 g/km of CO2, a new segment benchmark. Read more about PSA’s new PureTech turbo engine here.

The Peugeot 308 SW will try to win over European buyers looking at the Volkswagen Golf Variant and Ford Focus Estate starting this spring. Like what you see? Nasim sells the bigger 508 SW in Malaysia.

beautiful, sadly demand for this kind of car in malaysia is too low, even 508 SW is hard to see on the road

    • Yes, Malaysians still think of market vendors when they see a wagon.

Europe is totally different. In Germany >85% of all registered Passat are wagons. A wagon is considered a sporty lifestylie product there.

i always have a soft spot for french cars…my father used to own a 405 GT. my uncle used to drive a xantia and citroen evasion..i think on ride comfort, no other car maker can touch them. proton should hire top designer to design their cars…cannot la everything made in malaysia. there is no shame in doing it as every other player in the industry oso imported their talent.

The same cannot be said on latest French cars… for example, the current gen Peugeot 308 sold in Malaysia is very firmly sprung. Same to Citroen DS4/DS5.

  • It is really nice but the horror story about the SC in Malaysia makes me put aside the very thought of owning one. I wish they can improve on the service. When will this be?

  • Does anybody any idea when are they going to upgrade 508?

    • Archangel on Jan 08, 2014 at 10:20 pm

The 508 launched in 2011 while the 308 launched since 2009 (current model). Expecting an upgrade of 508 maybe in the next 2 or 3 years.
