BMW X1 sDrive20i CKD now with iDrive navigation

2014_BMW_X1_10

BMW Malaysia have updated the specs of the locally assembled BMW X1 sDrive20i from December 2013 onwards. For the same retail price of RM238,800 OTR without insurance, you now get the added equipment of an 8.8 inch iDrive infotainment screen complete with navigation maps.

As far as we can tell by comparing the specs sheet between the pre-December CKD car and the latest edition of the CKD X1 sDrive20i, this is the only change to the car. The latest specs sheet is dated 25 November 2013 while the initial CKD spec sheet is dated 1 November 2012.

Left: X1 sDrive20i spec sheet without iDrive, Right: with iDrive

The xDrive20d version of the X1 has always had iDrive as a CKD unit, but is about RM30k more expensive at RM268,800 OTR without insurance.

BTW, if you’re interested in an X1, there are X1 units for sale on CNY promo pricing listed on oto.my. We saw a pre-reg 2013 sDrive20i from Wearnes going for RM199,800, but it’s the version without iDrive.

x1 and x3 just as bad…q3….nice car…but salesmen not interested in small sales like q3. nice interior but performance and quality so-so…noticeable downgrade from a4, a6 quality. bette to get a forester or cx5 in my opinion.

      • Maybe he meant Nav only available in 4×4 previously and the steering was quite heavy even at low speed.

BMW Malaysia is always the champion of making their earlier buyer looks like idiot. Other example: see what is the price for the pre reg 328 msport they are selling now. Pity the early buyer who rushed to book in August.

X1 is a car that rides on nothing except the branding. Sorry, its the truth. 2-7 series, those are the real BMWs.

    • What are these allegations made up of? Your experience with the 2-7 Series? Pity the millions of X1, X3 and especially the X5 and X6 owners around the world who aren’t riding on ‘real BMWs’.

if i said there is a 5 series sitting in my family home and before that we had an x5 and I have an uncle who used to have a x3 would you belive me? most probably i’ll get bashed by butthurt x1 fans.

before getting 5 series me and family tested x1, x3, 3 series, and also recently tested the piece of crap called 1 series. 3 and 5 left great impressions, the x1 and 1…let’s say they are cars for ppl who die die need to get a bmw logo. even the salesgirl at auto bavaria agreed with us.

        • Maybe your opinion is more qualified compared to the journalists around the world who laud the these BMWs which aren’t ‘real’. What defines are ‘real BMW’? Kindly do explain. What impression does the 3 Series leave behind which the 1 Series and X1 does not? #curious

        • And by the way you’re saying that you’ve tested the X1, X3 and 3 Series before settling on the 5 Series. Those are different segments. Can it then be said you just want a BMW logo? Like the way you put it: “Die die need to get a BMW logo”. #contradicting

The speakers count still says 5. Thats less speakers than even most cars below RM100k. Thought with the inclusion of idrive, the speakers count can be increased, but looks like nope, nada.

But considering that the next gen X1 may be FWD, then this is the last chance to get a decent handling “small” BMW SUV. To be honest, the X1 Sdrive20i is not that bad for its price. Its a tall car (taller than the 3, 5, 7 anyways), so it should have less chance of encountering electrical problems when having to wade through a Malaysian banjir. If you drive a low riding BMW (3,4,5,7, etc), please remember that floods/high water are your kryptonite. Avoid at all costs.

Look at how much marketing and sales BMW Malaysia is doin lately. They are dying. Their sales is terrible. After buying a new BMW from their showroom, you will be treated like a fool. Dicounts would be better and better and previous buyer will not be given fair treatment or benefits. There is no loyalty by BMW Malaysia to their customers. Plus their cars and after sales service is terrible on their good day. Please boycott BMW Malaysia to show we customers are not fool. Do you know if u collect ur new BMW in UK or dubai etc, u are treated with respect, given a beautiful certificate with your name imprinted nicely, photoshooting with keys given to u etc and best part u pay at least 35% cheaper. Here all they do is “thank you ah”
