The Honda Vision XS-1 concept has been announced, and will make its world premiere at the Auto Expo 2014 in Delhi, India on February 5. Officially tagged as a creative study model, it’s a crossover which will feature “sporty styling and outstanding utility space based on Honda’s unique packaging technologies.”
That’s all we know for now, but this could be related to reports of a new compact, affordable Honda SUV that will go on sale in India in 2016. The yet-unnamed small crossover is said to be developed specifically for India, based on the Honda Brio platform.
The reports emerged after the Jazz-based Vezel SUV (pictured above) was deemed too costly to be adapted for the Indian market, especially in light of the Rupee’s recent decline. Apparently, the new SUV has “technologically advanced features” that would require too much “effort and expense” to be viable for the cost-sensitive market.
