Honda Vision XS-1 concept study premieres in India

Honda_Vision_XS-1_17

The Honda Vision XS-1 creative study has just made its world premiere at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. It’s not quite the Brio-based SUV as expected, but a futuristic concept of a seven-seat compact crossover instead. And before you get excited, no, there is no mass-production plan for it yet.

It doesn’t look like anything in Honda’s current model lineup, save for the large horizontal grille (also known as the “Solid Wing Face”) that’s part of the company’s newly employed “Exciting H Design” outlook. The Volvo-esque floating rear lamp treatment is a particularly nice design flourish.

Honda says the Vision XS-1 combines sporty exterior styling and spaciousness in a compact body, conforming to its “man maximum, machine minimum” concept. The large sliding doors open up to a versatile cabin with three rows of seats, the last two of which can be folded down to create a flat floor.

Too bad the Honda Vision XS-1 is not going into production anytime soon, but as a concept, what are your thoughts on the idea of a compact seven-seat crossover?

All good stuffs go to India.. Thailand.. even Myanmar… we get bullsh@t!! Thanks to NAP.. Can’t blame them… how much profit they can earn with tax regime? & some keep asking why 2 airbags only, no ESP.. no this & no that… it’s very clear they don’t want to sell it here.. market very small anyway.. even Indons get better stuffs..

Imagine Proton could design very “changgih” and “kau-kau” cars BUT still fit the lousy CAMPRO “boiling” engines, would it make any difference in terms of market share? You need proven CHASIS and ENGINES to succeed, not just futuristic designs.
The Americans have not developed new rocket engines to launch nuke ICBMs for the last 20years simply cos their existing rocket engines are still EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE in launching any imminent pre emptive strike at rogue nations .

Seems like Honda is trying to design the next gen Freed? The Freed is no longer available for sale even in Japan. Too old a model obviously.

Not bad looking… for once Honda knows how to design cars again.. But how much of these styling elements will get transferred to the actual production model? Will Honda do another Subaru Legacy again? :(

Despite being a pure concept, Honda did install reg production turn and wiper stalks in the car… and they’re from the FD Civic era too… not the current POS Civic.

And the steering wheel is a dressed up version of the current Honda Freed wheel.
