First teaser images of the next-gen Renault Trafic and Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro (Opel in Europe, Vauxhall in the UK) have been released ahead of their official debuts at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham in April. The new Trafic and Vivaro are co-developed, as per the current generation vans, along with the less popular Nissan Primastar.
Renault, Europe’s top light commercial vehicle (LCV) manufacturer since 1998, says that the third-gen Trafic is boosted by revised styling, new technologies and a range of new engines that benefit from the company’s expertise in the world of Formula 1.
“Its lines embody Renault’s new brand identity,” said designer Kihyun Jung. “My aim was to achieve a dynamic, assertive stance without sacrificing either the robustness or user-friendliness customers expect of their van,” he added.
In the red corner, Vauxhall says that the new Vivaro, which will be made in Luton UK, promises more economical and higher performance engines. “It also boasts ultra-modern technologies and equipment that bring typical passenger car amenities and features for frequent drivers into the LCV segment,” the press release stated.
We see a large, prominent front grille and wing-shaped graphics, with signature elements and forms of Opel/Vauxhall passenger cars. These new vans will go up against the latest Ford Transit/Tourneo Custom, which replaced the fifth-gen Transit that will be locally-assembled in Malaysia this year.

This Trafic will ease our traffic jam. Yes? No?
That’s odd. The side profile looks very much like the current models. Only the front end was changed (weren’t these to be new vehicles?), though that does look very good. Better than the Alphard.
Honda freed?
Isn’t our inokom van a prev gen Renault traffic?
Yes, but a very, very previous gen one.
Ooooo…that’s one big van there. Futuristic design, smooth curves and fills with mysteries.
