Tata Nexon concept – shaping a modern compact SUV

Tata Nexon Concept 06

As befits participation in a home show, Tata Motors debuted a spread of vehicles at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Aside from the likes of the Bolt and Zest, there’s the funky looking Tata Nexon design concept, a sub-four metre long SUV study.

The Nexon – measuring in at 4,000 mm long, 1,730 mm wide and 1,600 mm tall, with a 2,540 mm wheelbase – is powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged three-cylinder mill offering 110 PS and 170 Nm, paired to a five-speed auto transmission.

Performance numbers include a 180 km/h top speed and a touted 17.6 km per litre fuel economy. There’s an option to go 4WD path with this one, adding on an electric rear-wheel drive system.

Tata says the vehicle’s exterior – which features a cab-forward look – derives inspiration from city concrete greys contrasted against a sapphire blue sky, giving it a clean, minimalist and modern look.

The B-pillarless Nexon’s interior features a floating instrument panel within a wrap-around tub, and novelties include rear seats that can be folded to offer a flat load rear space and an interactive infotainment system and smart media controller mounted between the front seats.

Hasn’t ANYBODY learnt ANYTHING in our beloved BOLEHLAND when they saw this…??? TATA was once considered “undisireable”….and look what have they come out with…But of course their design is very reflective of India’s current market need….they KNOW what they (people) want…Not what the BOSSES wants!!!!
Pity though, to say and admit that our Beloved BOLEHLAND ia way, way behind Tata….
    BTW….is this coming to BOLEHLAND…????
