Joining the VisionC at the Geneva Motor Show next month is the third-generation Skoda Octavia Scout. The Scout is based on the Octavia Combi estate, fitted with four-wheel drive and jacked up in a manner similar to the Audi allroad series of estate cars.

Exclusive to the Scout are black front and rear bumper mouldings with “silver-coloured off-road attachments” and black protective trim along the sides, wheel arches and door sills. Ride height has increased by 33 mm and 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels are fitted as standard. Inside, the standard leather-wrapped three-spoke multi-function steering wheel has been adorned with a “Scout” badge.

Under the skin is the latest Haldex all-wheel drive system, which sends power to the rear wheels when the front wheels start to slip. Thanks to improvements over the previous generation system, traction has increased by up to 25% over the outgoing car. Approach and departure angles have also been increased, allowing the new Scout to climb and descend from steeper hills.

At launch, the Skoda Octavia Scout will be available with a choice of three engines – one petrol and two diesel. The company claims a 20% improvement in fuel economy over the previous generation Scout.

I bet if this wore a Proton logo, everyone will bash it and say that this is a horrible looking car without much thought about the car.
