Tesla CEO had a meeting with Apple: iMobile, anyone?

2014-ECOTY-Tesla-Model-S

Tesla Motors founder and CEO Elon Musk has confirmed to Bloomberg that he has, indeed, met with Apple, amidst wild speculations of a possible partnership, merger or even acquisition between the two companies. Could we be on the verge of seeing the creation of an iMobile (as in BatMobile) to go along with our iPhones and iPads?

Musk, however, “can’t comment on whether those [conversations] revolved around an acquisition.” That leaves the door open for the other two possibilities – partnership or merger. He then added that he’d prefer his company to focus on its own model lineup, which includes the existing Model S premium sedan and the upcoming Model X SUV (concept shown below).

According to Musk, the all-electric off-roader is now set to enter the American market in 2015, a year later than planned. The delay is due to the CEO himself “not being completely happy” with the product. “It’s damn hard to make an SUV, in particular, that is beautiful and yet incredibly functional at the same time,” he said.

If the car has an Apple product in it, the selling price will definitely be 2x the price of it’s actual value..

For an iCar, it has to be:

    1. Simplistic controls – probable just a knob with a huge screen to control every damn thing in the car.
    2. Simplistic design – Gone will be the radiator grills, bumpers, door handles, skirts, fancy rims…just simple clean lines. One light clusters includes everything. One wiper. One exhaust.
    3. Simplistic drive – one press, doors are unlock, engines started, auto aircon on, seat adjusted. Gears only forward and reverse.

    Later models will drive itself!

  • Elon himself has already Downplayed anything regarding to a acquisition by Cupertino based giant. But speculation on the forums Suggest that a partnership involving the development of batteries is in hand.

If it does happen, and they do slap the Apple logo onto Tesla’s cars = joke of the century.

Of course, you can let SIRI do all the driving for you.

Most likely to have Tesla power Apple’s DC using Solarcity and Tesla gigabattery factory/technology. Tesla will be bigger than a car manufacturer.

No thanks please. I dont want to pay for super expensive cable that can only power one type of car rather than a universal cable that can power any electric cars :) Plus, dont want my car “crashing” as often as my mobile device.

You’re comparing a car to a phone? Car to a Phone? CAR TO A PHONE? How many electric cars would you have anyway and how many cables do you need. Heck if you charging at multiple places just put the cable in the boot. Car crashing often. Well once is enough.
