This is the Mazda Hazumi concept, which previews the next-generation Mazda 2 hatchback. Mazda’s next generation B-segment car is set to debut in 2015, replacing the current third-generation Mazda 2/Demio that has been around since 2007.
The name Hazumi means to “bound” or “spring up” in Japanese, a name suited to a small Japanese car that appears to be ‘bursting with energy’. It takes on Kodo design cues from its larger siblings, the Mazda 3 and the Mazda 6.
The interior features a instrument cluster that has a family resemblance to the Mazda 3’s. The air-condition vents are circular and we only see three – we think the production car is likely to get a few more vents especially in the middle of the dash, where they will be tasked to blow air to the rear as well since rear air-con vents are unlikely in a B-segment car.
What do you think? Has Mazda’s Kodo design language translated well to a short and compact car like the Mazda 2? And will Mazda build a sedan version of the production car with this generation?

Omg! This is the first ever times I have the urge to buy a B segment hatch!
Compared to previous Mazda 2, it’s like heaven and hell, u know which one is hell right.
It’s no loser to hot Alfa Romeo or any other euro hot hatch, impressed by Mazda!
I think it should be illegal to make something look this good.
well done Mazda. Just make sure Bermaz doesn’t screw it up when it comes here.
Hopefully they do not tone down the production version too much.
Better looking 100 times than the current sedan (the current hatchback is ok)…the sedan is so hideous people are running away everytime it passes through them…it looks like a penyet tempe…esp the rear…so damn fugly…even its twin evil sister ford fiesta sedan is equally ugly…(the hatchback is beautiful though)…but there are people buying…just to be different from vios and city owners…but too bad they ve made a wrong choice…
Futurism feels, great design, well done Mazda!
What concept car? It’s as good as a production unit! Bring it nao! But… Mazda Malaysia, don’t f it up again like the Mazda 3. Thanks, sincerely, all Malaysians.
Just afraid the production model will not have the same look especially the big wheels and the dash…
hot cake
Yea.. this is one hot cake alright, serious and cute looking
at the same time. Mazda nailed it!
This car makes the competitors looks like designed by kindergarten children.
Yes especially that Proton GSC car. Probably a lame show-off by Proton at Geneva (if true they gonna participate too).
What Proton can offer with the GSC things that the world already knows? Or just another case of syok sendiri…as usual lah.
OMG. Sexy-ness overload.
wow, this car is pretty
FFUUUUUUUU! The whole time I’ve been waiting patiently for the 6-spd manual Suprima/ Prevé, but DAMN this Hazumi concept looks perfect !
Great lah… if the new Mazda2 turns out this good, or anything remotely similar….. I’m going through a crisis already. Suprima 6-spd manual or new Mazda2 ? Why lah…. why ? Why is life so cruel !?!
Why downvote this guy? Give him a break, he just got his life’s devotion to Proton shaken by a concept of one of the most beautifully designed B-segment cars in the world. That’s gotta say something in Mazda’s favor, right? *sheds a manly tear*
I feel you, man.
Comparing Suprima and Mazda….dude you really suffer from a very acute delusional disorder. Go visit the nearest shrink OK.
Stop hijacking kzm’s nick lah. Have some guts, man. Use your own unique nick.
hi toyoi!
Wow. The looks of this car is simply striking! I just hope Mazda ensures that the production model comes very close to the looks of this model, because this car is just sexy.
Wow… proton engineers/designers should please go and take lessons from the mazda guys.. they’re killing it will all their models.
Telling Proton engineers/designers to learn from Mazda…..joke of the century
omg omg ! sexy little 2 !!!
Bear in mind, concept cars are always a huge different with production unit
You should look at Mazda’s recent concepts and their production units.
if youre talking about EMAS/GSC, yes
Not for Mazda. Cx-5, Mazda 6, virtually identical to concept version.
I’m not a big fan of this actually, I think the proportion looks funny. I think the Peugeot 208 is one of the nicest looking B segment car, just that 4 speed shit box deal breaker spoiled it.
ya and the stupid steering that blocked the speedo meter :)
When it goes into production, it looks different.
Waiting for the hazumi sedan…
dun wait.
mazda2 is best in hatch form.
or mazda can prove me wrong :-)
Design wise, Mazda has done it again.
Look forward to the production of this 2..
maybe the looks will be the same??
just look at mazda6 and mazda3 productions..
hensem meh!
i seriously doubt that this car will get LED light for front and rear. the curve of the side profile may look the same.
For interior wise, again, i dont think so it will get the white contrast. It will be black. Anyhow, look bad ass compared to hideous toyota from altis to camry. ultra hideous.
It wears the Kodo design better than the Mazda3
Japanese Alfa MiTO?
I smell…90k
Mazda
ZOOM ZOOM
wow…nice car…mazda neva fail to impress
must be 90-100k la…
mazda always expensive what….
but
when reach malaysia
navigation system-nil
sport rim-nil
airbag-2 only
mazda logo-hopefully got la yea…
sigh….
I doubt your predictions. Mazda seems very safety conscious throughout their range, offering 6 airbags in even the Mazda3 along with their version of ESP. I don’t see what will stop them from continuing the trend. They don’t market themselves as entry-level and they got the price tags (pretty high~) and equipment (it is more comprehensive than most rivals) to prove it.
But I guess they do have to remove some of the more premium stuff to keep prices competitive…..now if only car prices in Malaysia were lower overall…
this is waaaaay better looking than the new mazda 3
Btw, what’s that guy doing on the floor?
Another failure (in Malaysia only) if the cabin size remains the same as what the existing model adopted.
Ford Fiesta and Suzuki swift (big discount) is a very good looking vehicle also look good but interior space is suck.
Malaysian prefers a bigger interior space that can accommodate 5 adult as where the new City/Vios/Almera has improved on this.
Mazda car look good from outside but their overall package is not complete without a good interior space.
Truly one of the most good looking car out there, beats concept from BMW or Audi lately.
The back reminds me a lot of Alfa, which is good as Mazda and Alfa is known to design the best looking cars out there.
Combined with Mazda’s godly reliability, technology which makes Germany engineer wet their beds and excellent fuel consumption, this car will take the world by storm!
Mark my words!
Most good handling cars have small interior space ie. mazda3, focus, 3 series etc. Its to prevent the occupants from sloshing and tumbling upside down when the driver is enjoying him/herself too much taking corners at break neck speeds.
This car is like the Alfa Romeo mito
Something about the nose seems off. That “nostril” is to big.
Surely they will tone it down to 50% just like M6.. and final product will be something not uuuhhh… aahhh.. anymore..
The car looks great overall but i somehow somewhat dun actually like the massive front grille…. else it’s a great car with great interior n exterior.. They need to improve their Skyactiv engine though…
u should ask toyota to improve their 4 speed gear box

If this really came out in Malaysia , with affordable and reasonable price , this would be crazy , gonna get 1
no doubt it is awesome car in its segment. very cool headlamp, tail lamp, dashboard as well. big front grille looks so impressive.
welcome to malaysia (hopefully)
Where is Mazda going to manufacture this car for the south east Asian market?
aiya! this car is much much better than Vios, City. Almera, Polo & 208 many many times la!
its brilliant..mazda got taste
now toyota..where is your yaris? can it be like this or not?
Can. Is already happening. Toyota had rebadged previous Mazda 2 model. http://paultan.org/2012/11/12/toyota-rebadge-mazda2/
Mark my words – once the new Mazda2 arrives to shore there will be the jokers who would try to justify fitting a whole family into a B-segment car and then complain that it is not as roomy as a Honda Accord or would rather go for a Toyota X for the RV…
1)i wonder how mazda 2 SEDAN will look like, since the current one is ugly….
2)if this mazda 2 uses skyactive teh-is there any special insentive by NAP?
3)Why the side mirror looks so small and kind of weird?

Toyota should hire the Mazda designers! Wake up and smell the coffee Toyota! Your cars are just so ordinary!
