SPIED: Ford Fiesta EcoBoost on the Federal Highway

ford fiesta ecoboost

It’s three at a go with this one, as the recently-spotted Ford Fusion is joined doing the transporter tango with two Fiestas – the red unit sports an EcoBoost decal on the rear door, which means it’s the 1.0 EcoBoost variant that was previewed at KLIMS13 and which is due to be officially launched next month.

Reader Wong Mun Siong spotted the transporter on the Federal Highway heading towards PJ from Klang – all three vehicles were up North a few days ago, being displays at a Ford dealer conference, and were likely heading back towards SDAC PJ when the pix was snapped.

The 125 PS/170 Nm Fiesta Ecoboost will be the range-topping facelifted Fiesta in Malaysia when it debuts, complementing the 1.5 Ti-VCT variant launched in September last year. No pricing has been bandied, but we’ve been informed that estimated pricing is expected to be in the RM96k to RM99k region.

Standard kit for the Malaysian-spec turbocharged B299 will include auto AC, auto headlamps/wipers, keyless entry and push-button start as well as a Safety Pack and its attendant seven airbags. It will also come with the full bodykit you see in the pix (front/rear splitter, side skirts) as well as LED DRLs, integrated into the front splitter. From what we gather, it’ll be available in True Red, Panther Black and Arctic White.

Meanwhile, the black/red side decals and offset racing stripes as well as the addition of the similar bodykit and DRLs on the white B299 example in the pix signify that a special edition is on the cards, almost certainly based around the 1.5 Sport. If the rear diffuser on both Fiestas looks familiar, it is, having been seen on the pre-facelift Fiesta XTR.

As for the Fusion (which will debut with that name, dropping the Mondeo nameplate), it’s expected to be introduced in Malaysia towards the end of 2014, with market deployment coming about in early 2015.

SDAC, please remove the black n red decals. It makes this new fiesta looks cheap. This is ford, not myvi.

Yes please. We demand for manual transmission full-spec. Please take the manual drivers seriously. Not everyone is going for automatic tranny.

I second with Wilson. SDA please provide manual version of Fiesta Ecoboost without letting stick shift (manual transmission) lovers wait for more expensive Fiesta ST.

thank you for the support. driving a manual car is a delight although at certain times we do face traffic jams and hill ascending slow traffic, but nevertheless, driving a manual is much more entertaining while preserving top features in the vehicle. thanks :)

Switching from Manual 6 speed Fiat Bravo T-jet to BMW 328i 8 speed auto already 6 month. At the beginning I feel ok, but now I feel very boring and missing the synchronize between my left foot, left arm and right foot…..I made a wrong choice…should go to manual DS4 instead….

dear Mr/Ms Blackbox, i know how you feel. but mine was a lot more cheaper, previously was a Manual Myvi 1.3 to a Serena Hybrid(as you can see from my pic). True that the synchronization is something orchestra-like~ haha. i believe you can afford great cars, maybe your next car can be the 2015 Subaru WRX STi? or maybe Focus ST?

Great, so to get 7 airbags now you have to spend around 96k rather than 7xk. And the EcoBoost isn’t specced much better than the old regular Fiesta. Which was much more affordable.

I do hope theres a manual variant for the Turboed Fiesta along with all those bell and whistles, after looking at the(pre-disaster)Ukraine trip that Top Gear took with the Fiesta, my lust for one intensifies. Thou weather is it enough to justify a near triple digit pricetagis qustionable, it will truly be a a nich car drawing in enthhusiast more than normal B-segment buyers….and that is if it comes in manual.

Having problem with the new registered wordpress thing, on some article , I can log in and comment while some, like the Proton sales in Aussie and the newer 4C Spider articles. I still cant.

Nice!! I’ve driven the 1.6 non turbo version. Its a sweet ride, and quite fast too. This turbo version should be quicker off the line. Though I still find the centre console is still too cluttered with buttons which dont have any particular zoning. But you get used to it.

Just for comparison, bringing up VW Polo 1.2 sport; which is priced at approximately 115k (turbo, fuel efficient, cheaper road tax). VW polo 1.6 (old engine, without turbo) is selling at 88k. Considering the fact that VW having not less than 10 complains regarding the Gear-Box issue working in humid Malaysia for 356days. 90+k for a 1.0 turbo-boost, fuel efficient, continental (Ford) handling and of course, cheap roadtax. There’s nothing you can complain more… UNLESS … unless you are comparing this with Korean Hot Hatch/local (Satria & Myvi … probably Viva).

  • Toyota Vios offers more value for money. I cant blame small partially Malaysian by this Fiesta 1.0 that the RV is really poor. Later one year the RV from RM 95000 drop to RM79000
