Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) will now centrally manage a streamlined process for Extended Warranty Programme (EWP) claims with immediate effect. This new approach will see VGM cooperate with its insurance partner and authorised dealer network to ensure a faster processing time and “seamless customer experience” on all warranty claims.
“We at Volkswagen are committed to continually improve our customer service standards to be one of the best in the industry. This optimisation of our EWP process is the next step that we are embarking on in order to ensure the vehicle maintenance process at our authorised service centre network is tailored according to our customers’ needs,” said Christoph Aringer, MD of VGM.
VGM and its insurance partner also announced today a 1,500 km goodwill allowance extension for service intervals. This means that should owners exceed the manufacturer recommended service interval mileage of every 15,000 km (or one-year, whichever comes first) by 1,500 km (max every 16,500 km), their warranties will remain intact.
“These adjustments to VGM’s warranty and servicing programme policies are part of our efforts to accelerate customer satisfaction. At the end of the day, we want to ensure that our discerning customers have more efficiency, flexibility and convenience when servicing their vehicles,” the newly-appointed Aringer added.
This latest development comes after a recently announced extension of dealer operation hours, and in response to dissatsifaction raised by a number of customers on service/warranty issues. Recently, a group of disgruntled VW owners picketed in front of VGM’s headquarters regarding the matter.
Customers can now service their vehicles seven days a week at 20 VW service centres. In addition, opening hours at selected SCs in the Klang Valley will be extended to 8am-8pm, and technical teams will operate in double shifts on weekdays. Click here for more info.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Bravo!
Aiyah, I thought you all giving free 1500km towing for all DSG related breakdowns.
Good move! And stop marketing themselves as “cheaper” Mercedes/Audi/BMW. VW is VW! People’s car in German. Stop deceiving the people!
VW is more expensive than their competitors in Germany.
stop talking rubbish. VW is not even a luxury brand in Germany nor in the whole of Europe. It is also priced far lower than BM, Merc and Audi.
Only fools in Malaysia fell for VGM marketing gimmick that VW is a luxury car. It is not.
VGM has sold you a Casio watch but told you it is same status as a Rolex watch. They marketed the Casio watch as a luxury product and priced it the same as a Rolex watch.
Malaysians, unable to shed their “worship” for the Mat Salleh since the 18th century, believed every word the Mat Salleh told them about the wonders of German quality and the status being at par with Audi and BMW
not true.
5 years back, golf 1.6 manual is priced similarly to a ford focus 1.6 manual, which is only slightly more expensive than a Proton Waja 1.6 manual. this is in UK, which is an open market and where a car’s value dropped to about 30-40% in the 3rd year.
True KJ. Perhaps some of the misguided chaps here are talking about the VW brand perception in the 1980s. Its certainly considered a premium brand in Europe now, albeit, below the “Big 3”. But certainly a notch above the popular Italian and French car makers. You guys can trawl the US and Oz car blogs. Same views there. VW is priced higher than its competitors in those countries and gets away with it because of the brand. Interestingly, nearly 10 years ago, VW announced that it planned to position itself against Mercedes Benz, and allow Audi to take on BMW. Thats the marketing strategy then.
I can only assume that some commenters here have not been to Europe recently, nor have they bothered to read the various car magazines on sale here in Malaysia.
Cheers,
CM
“The Truth About DSG” above is talking with his brains between his bollocks. He is probably the one who thinks that M’sian buys VW becoz it’s perceived as premium. I would advise you to shave your bollocks so that your panties will not be that tight. M’sian buys VW becoz of it’s drive. The driving experience got them hooked and the Japs are trailing behind there.
I’m talking purely on it’s test drive experience between VW and other cars. Pls don’t bring in element of reliability etc etc.
..no issue here, towing has always been free during the 5 years warranty period….
This is nothing but a desperate move by VGM. They know their sales are now so bad because everybody is aware of their DSG scandal. If they are genuine, they will do like what China has done. Give all existing customers 10 years extended warranty by Volkswagen (not insurance). This service interval allowance is utter nonsense.
Actually the DSG rumours are true. This so called service interval extension statement is just damage control because sales this year is so so bad. People have already realized that in 2014, the rumours about DSG problems are not just rumours but truth!
Any car, even with 2014 DSG box can only be sold in cold countries. If it is used in hot countries like Malaysia, it will be prone to continuous breakdowns.
This was admitted in May 2013 in black and white by VW AG Germany in a press statement to the world.
There will be fanboys and owners of VW that will come here and say people are only spreading rumours. Well, they did this long ago when people were complaining about DSG issues in 2011. The fanboys came here and said, all those spreading rumours were jealous and got no money, that is why they are jealous.
Then when VW AG came out with the press release in black and white in May 2013, all the VW fanboys shut their mouths. All keep quiet and silent in forums.
Now, the VW fanboys and salesman are back again saying that the DSG issues has been cured and they were 2011 cars and older. But in actual fact, even VW Germany admitted, there is no cure for the faulty DSG. People in hot countries like Malaysia with lots of traffic jam will just have to suffer continuous breakdowns.
China got fed up with VW, they even told VW to give all their existing buyers 10 years warranty. When in Malaysia going to do the same?
Prospective buyers better read facebook comments in VW Malaysia page. Of course again, fanboys have come in and said those are fake facebook accounts. But strangely each of those negative comments come from facebook accounts that have been opened for years with at least 200 friends each. So, how can they be fake?
There is a reason why each service centre takes about 1 month just to make a regular service appointment if you want to service your VW. This is because they are overworked with hundreds of backlog DSG rosak cars. That alone they cannot handle. Everyday more than 100 cars come with DSG problems and all the workshops in Klang Valley cannot handle the complaints. You see Toyota, Honda and Nissan, call today, tomorrow can already service your car.
So to all VW fanboys and owners as well as salesman, instead of coming online and saying people are spreading rumuors, do something for your customers, go ask your HQ to give your customers at least 10 years warranty. Its not all about your sales. Do something for your customers. Because there are tons of customers having non stop DSG breakdowns and sometimes, even lives are lost because when overtaking happens, the DSG suddenly loses power.
dey, i drive a honda and never call for appt la, just walk in like a boss..
u just din follow procedures, rule n regulation. like those manage our country til shit. Don u think much more people richer n Bosses than u? drive honda also so bosses action, drive BM or benz might no need follow traffic light?
agree..lots of honda and toyota owners thought they’re driving rm1mil car..lcly..
Actually, last year was a very bad year for VW Malaysia.
Malaysians all are now Internet savvy and can read comments from previous owners.
Actual fact, VW cannot sell at all because of the DSG problems and bad service centre. The only sales they make are in malls.
You see, VW is the only car company very aggressive in malls. They know, car enthusiast who are internet savvy will never touch their car. So, they target mall goers, who are mainly non car enthusiast and catch them in the malls.
Then they goreng about the German quality and the prestige of owning a VW. Then the mall goer just falls for it and signs up!
Most car enthusiast on the other hand know about VW Malaysia stinking service, their DSG scandals and also that their cars have zero prestige element.
We know, VW is nothing but a common car globally and only in Malaysia that VW tries to put their cars sama taraf as BMW and Mercedes but all over the world, the VW is known as a common people’s car. The VW in Europe has the same prestige and status as Proton in Malaysia. Only in Malaysia VW is priced in the same league as BMW and Audi.
Most car enthusiast also know that VW only gives 2 years warranty and not 5 years really. The remaining 3 years is Insurance warranty, which 9 out of 10 times, the adjustor will say, “it is not covered sir!”
In reality, the sale of every DSG VW in Malaysia is “illegal” as the product delived does nto correspond to the quality description given.
Most Japanese and Korean brands just walk in anytime. Even if they overshoot the Interval by a few thousand also, the Japanese or Korean service centre are cool about it. I myself have overshot a couple of thousand KM each time and when I had to make a big warranty claim, the service centre honoured my claim.
That is what you call class and respect. Honda, Toyota, Nissa, Hyundai, Kia – they respect their customers. They honour their warranty and don’t let nitty gritty things like serice intervals get into the way.
what do you expect when toyota has almost 100 service centres nationwide and honda more than 70 service centres as well?
how many SC VGM has in malaysia? i doubt nothing more than 30.
Ko sembang banyak sgt bro. Penat nak baca. Ginilah…. put aside pasal gearbox, bila extended warranty, kos VW yang tanggung. Cuba minta Toyota buat. Mati hidup balik pun takkan Toyota buat
bro, extended waranty VW cuma cover enjin dgn gearbox.
absorber bocor tak dapat, lampu masuk air tak dapat claim… bateri kong lagi lah tak dapat.
Are you sure extended warranty cuma cover enjin & gearbox? Read this pls
http://www.volkswagen.com.my/en/sales—service/exclusive-programmes/5-year-warranty-programme.html
. Toyota is overprice car…car with that price range, we aspect more safety features and better value for money, not this crappy & lousy car.Now Toyota losing sales. Vios has COMPLETELY lost out to the new City. People think Vios is a toilet car. This is UMW bread and butter. So, a big blow to them.
Then Altis is overpriced. No VSC and only 2 airbags. The one with VSC is about RM140k. People rather buy Elantra. At RM90k, it is a good RM50k cheaper with safety features.
If i need to choose either overprice toyota with lack of safety features…definitely say no to this crappy Toyota..toyota makes your life cheap….. Toyota selalu terbabas and believe me toyota can fly..no vsc..
Say….why did you bring up Toyota in a VW post? Just sayin’.
Now VW owners don’t know where to hide their face. Last year and earlier, they like to show off. At traffic lights they rev the car looking at you and wanting to race. When light turns green, the VW guy tekan minyak just to show off and overtake you.
Now, tables have turned. Owning a VW is like a joke. Infact, people laugh at the VW owner at the traffic light. Pay RM200,000 for something that breaksdown every other day. Pay BMW or Mercedes prices to wait for the tow truck to come.
Most VW owners now don’t know where to hide their face. From action to showing off, now, if they can wear plastic bag over their head, they will do so.
It is amazing how everyone now knows about the DSG problems and laugh at people spending so much of money to face DSG problems. That is heights of stupidity. Spend over RM200k for problem after problem.
The poor Proton owner, however much the VW owner kutuk him, at least his car does not breakdown, judder, power loss or get stuck in Karak highway at 2am in the morning.
Now all VW owners are crying. Their RV fall like an ocean liner dropping its anchor. Nobody wants a car with so much of risk involved.
Did Toyota extended the warranty of the Prius to ten years after several people got killed? Did Honda extended the warranty to ten years after they recalled their DCT cars? No? Why not?
As a owner of vw. The DSG issues with 7 speedo indeed is an valid point. Everyone noted tht long time ago.
I just one to point out one thing, there is a 3S VW Service Center just at my back of my house. Which I visit more very often… just to correct ur point.. There is indeed some cars pending DSG fixes.. but not like hundreds backlog pending fixes.. so next time do ur survey first. Dont just blindly make a comment without a solid proof or self visited 3S service center..
seeeeee… “Which I visit more very often”.. dont buy VM lar, stated service every 15k or 1 year, but Nath has already visited service center very often.
When he said hundreds of backlogs, he did not mean only in one service center lorrr.. he meant throughout malaysia one.. haiiyyyaaaa.. VM fanboys behave like proton fanboys.. so cheapppp
heard that vgm is currently in negotiation wt owner group to extend the warranty for engine & drivetrain beyond the 5 years….if they managed to give up to 10 years as per China will be great!
Sounds like you’re a car salesman from a competing company.
Instead of babbling on and on about VW’s “admission”, why don’t you just post the original link? We can draw our own conclusions from there.
Some of us actually use the internet to research about cars, before we put down our money. There’s much more in favour of VW than against it. Please don’t insult our intelligence with your remarks.
“The Truth About DSG”, pls go and write a book instead of writing karangan here. Maybe u’ll earn more money then. But then again, ur book may not sell.
useless la , bagi discount also tak guna
Good to hear..
Let see how fast is the approval claim (speed/time)..
Good. any news of what are their future plan for the faulty 1.4TSI & 7 speed DSG?
Future claim? Buy a new VW with new transmission design and suck it up lo. The same fate as those who bought fiesta and focus worldwide.
What is the problem with Ford Focus? Malaysia version didn’t fit in dry dual clutch transmission,no?
All powershift gear box for Fiesta and Focus is a dry clutch DSG.
Juddling from gear 1-3. Extremely common. Family bought the Focus first batch end of last year, problem was so terrible that Ford REPLACED the whole car. Now about 7000km on the “newly replaced car” same thing is happening again. Relative bought one also and it’s the same problem. Fiesta is the worse, google it and you’d see more news over VW. But in MY, the witch hunt is on VW, less on Ford.
Avoid any cars with dual clutch or dry gearboxes. In Malaysia, buy a Ford or a VW is asking for trouble!
no point also… not only the service quality is bad… the VW car also kind of unreliable… it makes no difference…
Just what stupidity is this…? Might as well just get rid of that crappy EWP and go full-fledge 5-year manufacturer warranty…
good first response from vwm
but it remains to be seen how efficient they carry out this plan. time will tell, so maybe we just wait and see.
nest step is to sincerely drop the car price, if they could afford to give RM 15000-20000 discount why not be sincere, just drop the price so that everyone can enjoy, not to certain people at certain mega sales periods. this may have a chain effect to the prices of other brands. many say the margin is still huge so why not show some sincerity.
thirdly, and most importantly, make sure the gearbox problems r solved, i’m talking about NO more gearbox breakdowns, not about opening till 8pm so that u can still bring ur spoilt gearbox here after work, every month.
Not a good response by VGM. VGM should give 10 year manufactuer warranty to all existing owners. Because the RV of all VW has dropped so much. The RV of VW is is so shocking, that used car dealers selling 2012 Passat now for RM80k. That also, if the the used car dealer can cari a buyer. Nobody wants to buy a VW now. All scared and takut. Because the DSG is an inherent problem. Change it also, the next DSG will give you the same problem. Change 10 times also no use, because it is the same inherently faulty DSG box being replaced each time.
Janji Dicapati
What a quality germany car. Even worst than Proton.
Two fake GTIs in the photo
Even after all the problems, people still visit VW showrooms and buy the damn cars. Just could not understand Malaysian stupidity.
Think this year, this is not so. Even last year, sales dropped by 23% already. Hence a significant number of potential buyers has left the brand.
Because when the Rakyat driving a VW on the road it is a luxury status and show them is living in good life. For them, ppl who drive national brand or Japanese brand is like 2nd class category.
Yeah bro! Absolutely true! Luxury and better life cos VW SC pretty comfy cos thats where the owners are at! Either that or at their homes. Luxury indeed. But cars still broken down and stuck at sc. Lolz
People also still buy Toyota, despite Toyota’s total disregard for Malaysian lives.
Hear Hear! Toyota sells cars here with atrocious emissions figures, with outdated engines which would have a tough time being passed in UK. Safety features, both active and passive are poor….2 airbags in a 280k Previa (vs 9 airbags in its “junk” VW Sharan rival). The drivetrain technology in Toyotas is at least 20 yrs behind time….and as we have seen, it’s “trusty” and “reliable” engines will continue to see future service. We motorheads admire the German companies for their willingness to constantly improve and innovate and even over-engineer their cars. This includes producing highly efficient diesel engines, small fuel efficient turbocharged petrols, gearboxes with twinclutch technology, a whole raft of safety tech. The reality is, in Malaysia, it’s the non-Jap companies (with exceptions) who offer us world class cars. Anyone with petrol in their veins would understand. Sadly Paul, your readers have as much interest in cars as they probably would in a home electrical appliance. Perhaps its time for Paultan to review that Panasonic water heater, Coway water filter and Kenwood food processor. After all, like a 2.0l Toyota engine with 4 speed gearbox, these appliances will work forever and ever, unlike a world class 2.0l turbo VW engine with 6speed DSG, which will spend more time on the road being towed than driven.
Walao. At least nissan, toyota and honda cars dun have to worry ab cars breaking down like VW! Prices for this german brand seriously so damn damn expensive and poor DSG reliablity.Damn, even kimchi HYUndai also dun have this kind of problem.
No, Toyota recalls cars because they turn over in curves while driving. But while standing in traffic jams Toyotas are really superior.
Toyota’s don’t break down, they won’t stop driving. Even when the owner wants them to stop. (Brake failures)
Give them a chance to make things better la. Atleast the new MD Christoph Aringer is taking steps to correct things. First the service extension, now the central claims. 2 positive steps already…. lets encourage them to take the next step and the next step and the next… criticizing them will not benefit anyone at this point.
To Christoph Aringer, Bravo. Keep up the good work. Hope to hear more good news from your end.
U’re the one know to give chance. Good
I also give chance to them…I think they will get improvement.
We giv chance to them. Who giv us chance? Bank instalment no need pay? Mau jual oso no ppl wan or dirt cheap price. Who compensate us? VGM?
Wouldnt you see these actions as giving a chance to all VW owners who has already bought the car to get better service? Least the owners dont get their warranties voided and they have comparatively shorter waiting period for servicing. Like I mentioned, positive actions to correct the issues.
But adding on, these are just actions to treat the symptoms and not the core of the problem; which is the gearbox itself. If the gearboxes was sorted out, alot of the complaints would be lessen.
Yup, i think the new MD is doing a great job so far…guest he is good thats why VW Group pull him out from Porsche’s China to help turnaround VW Msia
Comeon guys, VW still very new in Malaysian market and out beat most of the Europe brand in term of sales. They are still adapting and good to see that they willing listen to what people wants.
Just as a comparison Mazda gives me about 1000km leeway every service. It is an unspoken rule. For my last 60km end of free service period I went in at about 61-something KM but they still gave me a free service.
Bravo to those who “Mogok” infront of Volkswagen Malaysia’s Headquarters for service internal purpose previously. Eventually they had to come up with a brilliant plan which makes all of their customer happy.
Buy German they say… Quality they say…
Aside from Mercedes, the rest of Germans are absolute rubbish, worse quality than even Proton, maybe on par with current China cars.
Yet, they’re not apparent during short test drive reviews. Drive car for few days, of course can’t notice quality faults, that’s why motor writers all syok German cars. Drive for few days, all writers always “so handling, much save fuel, such soft dash. Wow.”
But to own one? A hell worse than Proton. Will VW care? As if. They want your wallet.
If they really care, give 5+5+5 like Volvo, even 10+10+10, I double dare them. But Volvo where got syok like Germans, too unker la, no RV la (as if germans got RV).
Never mind. At least Volvo gets to keep its brand clean from posers. Posers can continue get wowed by German then f*cked upside down, padan muka. Meanwhile, Volvo owners who see past hype, have peace of mind, style, unrivaled safety, comfort, no need worry crowded service and waste time. This is democracy.
Nice Doge there.
But really, do you own a German? Not trolling. Just want to see how seriously I should take your comment. Claiming that German cars are worse than Proton is quite a bold statement, I daresay.
I do agree with your statement about Volvo. Much overlooked car brand at the moment but oozing so much style to the discerning eye that you one can’t simply dismiss them…but their price tag will dismiss you.
I know a few who do own German cars, merc is good, but the rest always malu when i ask “how’s ur (insert other Germans)”. Ymmv
They still hv their strengths, so i understand why they hv their fans despite their troublesome maintenance.
What i say applies here in Malaysia only. In europe, where most drive manual, n competition more stiff, they’re properly acceptable quality. Here, they sell sh*t junk also ppl will buy n banggala drive German.
If I’m looking at Volvo, I’d nearly can afford Germans too. If i can’t afford a Volvo, i can’t afford the Germans. Volvo is priced more competitive, and best 5+5+5 aftersale package too. Ask that package at any Germans, they’ll ask u go fly kite.
Volvo SA? Volvo make good cars, so do the Germans. Volvo uses the same PowerShift gearboxes as Ford. The ones causing problem there.
Kadajawi, i only know u well enough that you’ve had some time in Germany. What happens in Germany, stays in Germany.
Here, all they care is our money, quality be damned, they literally need to be embarrassed by protesting owners to start doing something. What’ve they been doin all these years? Easy money exploiting our ang moh superiority complex.
I know German cars are good, but not here. There’s no mt aside from last gen’s polo gti, DSG no need to say how quality it is. U know i know, all those fb, protest, even comments here is not 100% tipu. N don’t compare dsg in germany vs here, our weather n traffic not like Germany, n they r major factor affecting dsg performance. Heck dsg is not even that popular, cheaper n more effective to get a manual.
I’m aware Volvo today is not as quality as their RWD era of 240, 740, 940, but neither any modern cars comparable to old era. Even Japanese, master of reliability had to make recalls. Taking modern era’s challenge, Volvo is doing better than most German cars in worldwide reliability test.
That’s why Volvo ditch powershift for Aisin’s 8-speed. It has begun in s60 n recently v40. Keeps them ahead of Germans.
If talking absolute quality, i hv less confidence with modern car’s quality compared to from 90s era. Move on already, it’s 2014, not 1991. Compare quality should be relative in same era, my personal pecking order in msia is japanese>merc>swedish>korean>proton>german>french>chinese
As i said, this is democracy, no hard feeling if u wanna disagree with me. N i know u, n many others would.
Any manufacturer that makes good cars wont gulung tikar la. All manufactures that go down under is because customers are telling them they make useless cars!
Volvo 5yr volvo on call,5 free service (20K km/1yr x 5),5yr warranty (unlimited) is nothing la..
German warranty like Porsche let u claim disc rotor once in 2 years and brake pad each year..
while volvo wear tear u have to pay..
I’m limiting my scope to vw, bmw, merc, audi, u bring in Porsche pula…
I dunno if Volvo owners should be flattered they’re viewed as exclusive as Porsche owners now. Oh well, a level above bmw, audi, vw, merc owners at least.
Dont you realise that when you said rest German cars are rubbish that includes Porsche… please dont be that ignorant….
Perhaps you can give examples of how Audis, BMW, Porsche are worse quality than proton or on par with china cars? Please qualify your comment. Dont just make comments like farting la…. alot of noise and smelly.
Porsche GT3. Much burn, so quality, such recall. Wow.
And what they do? Replace engines. And that being responsible. Ferrari has had cars burning down? Lambo too… merc has had cars failing the elk test at press release and has had failed adaptive cruise control problems at press day…. So please dont be selective when you put forth your thoughts. Just makes u an ignorant bigot.
U asked abt quality, not service. Like quality, service can vary.
N just compare their service to them vs to us. DSG fiasco going on for so long, nobody in VW gives a fcuk. Over there, their cars burn, straight away change engine.
Try to get that level of service here, they ask u x suka, go buy Toyota or buy tow truck subscription from sam loo
“Aside from Mercedes, the rest of Germans are absolute rubbish, worse quality than even Proton, maybe on par with current China cars.”
Bro, this is your comment… I just highlighted that is it fair to call all german cars sans Merc rubbish…. Be consistent when you make comments. Not making simply making comments because you want to rage.
U can’t differentiate quality of product n service?
Porsche’s quality is still rubbish to me, they make up for it with recall, but had they have quality in the first place, they would’ve got it right in the first place.
But people would still buy Porsche for other reasons, reliability is not as important at that level. Prestige n driving experience perhaps, and porsche can give just that, so fair enough. Perhaps that’s other people’s idea of quality, fair enough. Quality can be open to other interpretation, not just limited to reliability.
But this post started with VW’s crappy reliability of their product n crappy service. So we establish here quality is reliability, n i stand by my opinion no German san merc can give u satisfactory fuss free experience, and Volvo’s ownership experience is better than Germans, at least here in Msia.
I am not sure if you are seriously this ignorant or are you trolling…. google recalls on any car manufacturer and you will get something. Hence, what car manufacturer is quality? Gawd… what a bigot!
http://www.autoblog.com/volvo/recalls/
Name calling, noble way to ease the butthurt pain, eh?
Of course volvo recalls too, volvo makes lemon too, and then what happens when rankings are made for reliability surveys? Who’s the ignorant now?
I really have nothing to prove, far more evidence favor my point volvo makes better cars than most Germans. This post itself is evidence german gives u crap that took them so long to rectify. Too bad, VW + DSG is now a joke like proton with power window. Butthurt? None of Volvo’s fault, and those arrogant Germans and you gullible owners fault!
reminds me of da perdana v6 gearbox fiasco…but give them credit atleast thy r doing sting abt their service
It was posted in one automotive website ( Malaysian) about the disgruntled VW owners, holding a gathering with banners outside VW in Bangsar. I have given the link previously in paultan, which turned out my posting is not published :) ( I believed due to conflict of interest).
Back to the topic, those disgruntled VW owners, about 50 -60 of them, condemning about the DSG issue & issue about warranty being void for sending their cars quite late ( > 1000km if i am not mistaken)..but those owners give the reason they have to send their cars late, was due to inablity of the service centre to cater the increasing numbers of car need to be serviced.
So i am looking at this news,as a direct respond of VGM towards the latest protest in Bangsar :)
Most car companies in Malaysia honour the warranty claim despite customers overshooting their mileage by a few thousand KM. That is what you call class. They respect the consumer.
The picketting failed because the service interval thing is a small issue. What VGM should have given is a promise of a 10 year warranty AND a promise to buy back your car at a promised value because all VW now have bad fallen RV.
Chill bro. One thing at a time. The MD is taking positive steps towards making things right. The current initiatives are things within his direct control and hence can implement quickly. Things which has higher risks, he would probably need some approval from Germany and that would take some time. Take it as a positive thing that VW owners feedback has been heard and there are steps to correct it.
I totally disagreed. I have a S300L and it is a nightmare car. Just after my 3 years warranty is over, my ECU broke down. Then my Airmatic, my oxygen sensors etc.And only few thousand km over for such an expensive car. I wrote to MBM and they sent me a standard reply. They said Hap Seng has to liaise with Germany instead of them. MBM is owned by MB Germany and yet they pushed the problems to their dealer. If the manufacturer of my Merc is asproactive as VM, I will be their customer forever. To me, Merc is like Proton, with their past power window problem issue, took a long time to resolve a simple problem.
Do this apply for current owners as well? Cause Im having the same issue, I narrowly surpassed service interval and void my warranty. Car is only 3 years old.
I am a current owner too (since 2010). My warranty was void due to past service interval, same question as Nooniez, does this new extension help us on reviving our warranty?
My wife’s Polo is still in Glenmarie after 5 weeks of so called ‘gear box’ problem. When called, they gave a lot of nonsense reasons. They claimed that they hv to source the parts from Germany and recently waiting for insurance approval. VW still sleepinglahhhh…. Will never buy VW after this. Hopefully, we can sell the car without massive loss. It’s a good car though.
They have changed that insurance approval thing. Not needed anymore.
Damn! I have just placed a booking for a new Golf GTi. Any DSG issues with the latest Golf so far?
Good luck bro.
Pray hard for MH370 and you…
DSG6 no issue la dude.. haha u sure u placed order? or juz another keyboard warrior?
so far my MK6 GTI already in 4th year still no issue on the gearbox..
GTI no worries…dsg6 are the wet clutch variant and been around longer & proven reliable
the solution is, don’t buy VW. bye2 VW.
So the best thing is don’t buy a car. Use taxi, bus or train. No need to worry about petrol, instalments or repairs.
i’m waiting for the CLA 200.. wonder what is the price hmm..
Audi A3 Sedan also coming.. hmm..
Audi/VW/Skoda/SEAT…same goes ler bro…those are all VW in diff names
Actually, it would be a great idea for VW owners to consider a used kimchi.
15 month old unit can get at around 60% of selling price
A used kimchi nowadays not so bad, aye?
You punya bapa jual jagung kah ?
1500 only? Should be below 3000.
since i bought my passat at 2012, i’ve never been told to make appointment at least 2-4 weeks earlier.
i didn’t ware of the service centre was always fully booked, last time when i drive mazda & toyota i normally just walked in and left my car they will service for me. the first time i called to arrange appointment for my car service, my mileage was already 14500, and i didn’t expect the VW service centre in Bukit Tinggi Klang was so fully booked, don’t even mention about glenmarie, glenmarie need 4 weeks in advance, then the VW bukit tinggi SC ask me to send in my car after 2 week, as they’re fully booked.
plus i don’t have a spare car, and i have to travel a lot because of work, end up with my first service was around 17000-17500km mileage. exceed around 2000-2500km.
after that all my service was no exceed at all, as i’ve been warned my warranty may be void during the first service.
so VW Malaysia is my warranty valid?
Another step in the right direction.
Next, to Prof Dr Martin Winterkorn, please bring in manual GTis and Rs into Malaysia. Sure no more DSG problems. Hoping.
Dude, but the Gtis and Rs DSG doesnt have a problem… only the TSI la….
Please give 10 years warranty for the 7 speed DSG please
heard that’s in the pipeline….for both drivetrain & engine beyond 5 years warranty.
If VW extend drivetrain & engine warranty beyond 5 years…this will surely put pressure to other makes..such as the Japs/Koreans…great for us consumers!
They should use the mileage on the day you call them for an appointment for reference.
My thought are the Malaysian people driving behavior. They do not really know how to drives a Semi Manual Gearbox properly. No matter what.. VW are the best selling cars in the world after Toyota(Cheap).
Please elaborate…. how should people drive a DSG properly?
I still don’t understand why VW doesn’t want to revert back to DSG6 wet clutch.. it’s proven reliable and dare i say it even more reliable than conventional torque converter… why the hell they wanna stick to the DSG7 dry clutch??? The performance figure only varies abit although the wet clutches cost more…
Ppl still want to buy VW but demand better this and that. Dont buy la, simple, then only they will take notice.
Those who want 10 yrs warranty can always buy in China, see the difference!
Well im glad to say that my MK6 and CC have 0 problem apart from wear and tear. Service in time and you will not have any warranty issue. They even replace a new battery when detect is weak without me even asking.
My air-cond is not cold anymore but they don’t do non-maintenance services on weekends. So I have to take a day off from work just to get it fixed? What a load of bull.
Some people are just ignorant. . Anyway.. enjoy reading all complaints here. Good luck VW owners & new owners. Enjoy burn your own money. . It’s your money anyway. . Can share your suffering here.. we ll listen. Haha…
I really hope VW is serious about their quality and services reputation that match the tagline of an EU top notch marque. The other day, I went to the workshop to inquire on why my CC car-stereo can’t output Chinese song title (Chinese character) correctly and got cold reception: “sorry, that is the limitation of imported model”. Excuse me, limitation of what? Maybe Msia is such small market and they couldn’t care less to improve the firmware for EU imported model. Rather upset! Still need to bear with allien character when play chinese song . . .
Ok my 2 cents. I want to correct of the misconceptions above. The problem is with the 7 speed dry DSG clutch NOT the 6 speed wet clutch in the GTI. VWs are not positioned to directly compete with Mercs and BMWs. Having said that some models do overlap between the 3 brands. If there are, what is going to happen to Audi??? There is a BIG difference between VW and Audi esp in quality and refinement. I should know, I currently own both brands…Generally (key word here) Merc and BMW fans are a different bunch. Hence the positioning is different – Merc buyers associate the brand with quality, prestige and comfort etc. BMW buyers want handling, performance, driving trill etc. Merc is trying to get more hip (eg. the new “a” class) and BMW is trying to appeal to a bigger crowd (eg. Look at how the 3 series has evolved over the many generations…)…I rest my case.
I wasted so much money in this scam shit car. To new comer, don’t buy else be ready to join my club. Anyway, I just sold my vw to used car dealer, damn low price.
wow ..i read all the comments here..its some comments scared me ..make me really 50/50 in mind to proceed or not to buy new ckd VW Jetta 1.4 TSI DSG..any update entry for jetta?
i have 2 vw’s bought from vw malaysia. all i can say is vw uses defective parts and materials but will never own up. i believe their sales volume against projection this year will be a laugh and vw will stop operations in malaysia soon. financially no longer tenable when no cars are moving from showrooms. not touching anything from vw umbrella ever again. das auto my foot.
