Renault Malaysia to launch six models this year

fluence-spy-01

At yesterday’s Clio RS 200 EDC launch, TC Euro Cars director Kuan Kim Luen announced that six Renaults would be launched this year in Malaysia, with four being all-new and two being facelifts.

Two of the six have already been launched – the Koleos ‘second facelift’ and the Clio RS. The Fluence has been spotted many times, suggesting an imminent launch. That leaves two new models and one facelift.

Let the speculation begin. We’ve been told that the standard fourth-gen Clio may arrive towards year-end, and our Megane might get facelifted as well.

The last new model is anyone’s guess – MPV, small funky SUV or cute little electric car?

Wondered what will be the price range of the standard Clio – the RS200 is about RM30k dearer than its direct competitor 208 gti.

I’m wondering about that too. Hopefully the delay is cause they want to CKD it, in order to bring the price down. But by now I expect it to cost 110k, cause clearly TC wants to differentiate Renault from Nissan through the price. What do they think Renault is? Mercedes Benz? It’s a Ford/Peugeot competitor, not a premium brand…

I’d expect the Scenic or Captur. Twingo doesn’t make sense, it would be way too expensive for the A segment. Ok, scratch that. Twingo it will be. Though the Captur can easily be way overpriced, see the EcoSport (?) and other B segment based “SUVs”. And the Scenic would be at least priced around the Touran, while the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso would probably be cheaper…

It’s going to be – Renault Twingo. Most likely to be introduced near the end of this year.

Launch 6 cars?! Sure, why not but could they (T.C. Euro) deliver the cars in time? Stack up stocks to boost sales figure? I doubt that b’coz from my experience they have a AP issues…T.C. Euro have limited n I mean very limited AP bringing CBU cars.

Wonder why they bother with the Fluence. Especially when it doesn’t have very many USPs.

Stacked against heavyweights like the Accord, Camry, Mazda 6 and the upcoming Altima/Teana I would be really surprised if it actually moved out of the showroom.

There is also no shortage of continental marques, with the Passat, 508 and C5 holding up fort.

The Laguna is D segment. The Latitude is above that.

They better bring in the new Clio. It’ll give Fiesta/Pug 208 a little more competition. However, not too late. If it is priced right in Fiesta/208 region. It’ll be a cash cow for Renault Malaysia

I’m expecting also the nice looking D-segment Renault Safrane/Latitude (latest facelift). Would be great if Renault could offer this car for the local market. We certainly want to have more European marques in the local D-segment.
