The arrival of the 2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost isn’t too far away now, and ahead of its full debut, the Blue Oval has decided to showcase the car in what it’s calling the ‘Fiesta 1.0L Urban Playground’ experiential tour, which kicks off on April 19 at the Sime Darby Auto Connexion showroom in Petaling Jaya.

For nine consecutive weekends at select Ford showrooms, visitors to the event will be able to test-drive the new Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost. They’ll also receive exclusive Ford merchandise after the test drive sessions during the Urban Playground events.

Posting the test drive experience on the the Ford Fiesta Malaysia Facebook page will put one in the running to win limited LG Pocket Photo smart mobile printers. As for customers who place a booking for the 1.0L EcoBoost at any one of the Urban Playground tour locations, they’re set to receive an exclusive Edifier headset upon registration.

The 125 PS/170 Nm Fiesta Ecoboost will be the range-topping facelifted Fiesta in Malaysia when it debuts, complementing the 1.5 Ti-VCT variant that was launched in September 2013. The company says that the Fiesta EcoBoost will be available in all Ford showrooms across Peninsular Malaysia soon, and those in Sabah and Sarawak starting from May, adding that it’ll announce official pricing and all specifications closer to the date of availability.

Why? The “I won’t pay so much for a 1L car” thing or too much money for a small car? Personally I see it as a 1.8L car for all that torque, as for small car.. well, there are more expensive small car anyway.

I actually wish it cost more, unpopular opinion, yes, but at least I won’t have to kick myself for not waiting for the ecoboost if it’s under 90k… the 1.5L is a fine car(for now), it just lacks power when you really need it, and the gearbox is stupid at choosing gears for you sometime…

If it comes with the dry dual clutch Powershift please don’t bother selling it here to make Malaysian’s lives more miserable.

They should launch it with ‘Gymkhana’ style showcase on the open car park or so called urban playground.

This is going to be a massive rip off. The pre-FL Fiesta was a well equipped car, especially in the LX specification. Then came the FL and they gave it a less powerful, smaller engine and massively downgraded the specs, especially in terms of safety. And now they release a range topper, that is as powerful as the car used to be (though with slightly lower road tax and fuel consumption), and with the same specs as before. But they bump up the price by around 20k?!?!?! Just for that 1.0 EcoBoost 20k?! Is the engine made of gold?

Actually, the only downgrade from the pre facelift is the safety features. Everything else is an upgrade, minus the engine which is more of a downsize. It is a new engine btw meant for fuel economy over power.

  • The engine is maybe a downsize but the performance is certainly not. It’s much better than the 1.6 liter model but RM 90 k would seem a fair price.
