Third-generation Nissan Murano – first official photos

Remember the Nissan Resonance Concept from Detroit 2013? Here’s what the showcar has evolved into – the third-generation Nissan Murano, which will make its public debut at the upcoming 2014 New York International Auto Show.

We can see that the production car has inherited the concept’s sexy “Energetic Emotion Flow” side curves as well as the blacked out D-pillar which gives the new Murano a “floating” look to the roof.

On the rear, there are Nissan 370Z-inspired boomerang-shaped tail lamps. On the overall, the car looks lower and wider than the outgoing second-generation Murano.

The overall design has a similiar family look to smaller Nissan SUVs such as the new X-Trail. The front grille adopts the new Nissan face which has been described as “V Motion”, replacing the “Kamishimo” grille found on Nissan’s current sedans.

These press photos show a single interior colour scheme for now – one that has a bright and airy feel. The seats will adopt Nissan’s NASA-inspired “zero gravity” construction which should promise a nice cushy ride.

A single drivetrain will be available for the US market Murano – Nissan’s venerable 3.5 litre V6 engine mated to an Xtronic CVT transmission, although perhaps for other markets that are not so displacement-hungry, we might see the use of a 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine. Looks good, doesn’t it?

I thought it is the second gen volvo xc60. Looks like it can rival the evoque with its concept looks. Just simply gorgeous.

The exterior design makes it as the most gorgeous Jpn SUV..

I think the rear is a bit overdone but surely looks better than the previous model. Ditch the white/ cream interior please. It spoils the whole thing.
and yes, bring the 2.5 ltr engine.

Nabil, couldn’t agreed with u more. I remember when the 1st generation hits the market, it hit like a storm. Every single turn we look on the road seems to have one, like a “must have” trend or something. Then, the 2nd generation came (*working at Nissan this moment) and see the market sway away from it due to the much more sedate looks. Now, with this 3rd generation brings back the old recipe…the WOW factor! Can see now all grey importers are ready to gunning this beauty for sure.

    Love the design.
Looks so much much elegant + aggressive than current gen of Murano.
Sure a lot of people will pening to choose, Murano or Evoque?

Anyway the front grille looks a lil bit overdone.
    Light/Cream is a no-no.
I prefer Dark/Light Brown. Or maybe just black.

    Just my two centss
    :)

Both this Murano and the new X-Trail are good looking cars. Only questions are when will they arrive and at what price point. Reliability is an almost given with Nissan already and now they have decent styling to go with as well.

Great looking interior and exterior wise…
wonder how it handles… 3.5 v6 is quite a powerful engine… i doubt even ron97 here could even satisfy the engine hunger for fuel…. Xtronic CVT on a 3.5 flat six is quite interesting… wonder how Nissan tweak da CVT…
