Porsche 911 GT3 – new engines in production April 22

Current 991-generation Porsche 911 GT3 owners can breathe a sigh of relief at long last after Porsche sent out letters informing them that the replacement engines for their troubled cars will roll into production on April 22.

Earlier in the year, Porsche announced a recall involving all 785 units of the company’s latest track-optimised sports car that have been delivered so far after a spate of engine fires. Owners were told to stop driving their cars while the company was preparing a fix, which involved changing entire engines of all the cars.

The new engines will feature an “optimised piston rod screw connection”, remedying the original problem – caused by a faulty screw joint on the connecting rod which could then loosen and damage the crankcase, resulting in an oil leak from which the fires originated.

Dealers will document the installation of the new engines and provide the owners with certification. In addition, Porsche will grant current owners with an extra year of warranty and provide additional compensation to make up for the inconvenience of having to keep their cars stationary for so long.

Nowadays with precision machines n robots doing the engines, its very rare to offer a completly new engine as a replacement,i guess thr was lack of oversight in da production n testing phase…
