Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ updated with better dynamics

Toyota_GT86_2015_update_Europe_01

The Toyota 86 (or the GT86 as it’s called in Europe), has been given a minor update for the 2015 Model Year. You’d hardly describe the reborn hachi roku as lacking in the dynamics department, but that’s precisely what Toyota decided to improve upon.

Toyota claims to have continued to work on the car since it was first launched in 2012. Chief engineer Tetsuya Tada said, “there is no reason that development should stop, only because the vehicle has gone on sale. The 86 is all about driver involvement, and we are committed to keep enhancing this aspect of the car.”

Integral to the running upgrade is a “more rigid fixation of the front suspension and the rear shock absorbers.” Coupled with reworked dampers, the changes provide more stability to deliver a smoother and more communicative handling. Body roll has been reduced too, while the steering is said to be even crisper than before.

Changes that you can physically see are limited to a new shark-fin antenna (which is aero-positive, apparently) and a carbon-fibre-look dashboard trim. Subaru has also announced a very similar update for its near-identical BRZ.

  • Love this 2 siblings, but that price…… Too much to ask for. If I we’re to go for a RWD, my votes on the BMW 220i coupe.

People who wanted a fun rear wheel drive car and wanted to train his or her driving skill should buy this GT 86.
It’s a different feeling driving this car and most BMW rear wheel drive car.
This Toyota is definitely a Driver’s car . Back to basic, car, skill and machine

That’s why is designed for further modification. Toyota has it in mind therefore you see the interior just so so.

The awesome suspension and weight distribution will keep on tempt you to mod the engine.

Supercharger, turbo, twin turbo you name it.

Only 2 cars have left an amazing impression on me. The Porsche Cayman S (manual) and this 86 (manual). sad to see the price is as such in this country due to taxes and protectionism measures.

The Focus ST, Civic Type R and Megane RS are manic machines but lack that “connection” with you.

One more thing to mention, Focus ST, Civic Type R and Megane RS are all front wheel drive cars (FF).

I believe except the Preve, all the rest of them was already long gone when you are still climbing the revs for more power. lol

Are you saying that the AP holders are forcing official importers (like UMW Toyota) in this instance to sell the 86 at RM243K?
