New hardcore Renault Megane RS variant teased

The current-generation Renault Megane RS has been around for five years, but Renault Sport clearly thinks there is still lots of life in the old horse. To that end, it is teasing a new, hardcore version of the already serious hot hatch, accompanied by the hashtag #Under8 – almost certainly hinting at a target Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of under eight minutes.

Earlier in the year, the new Seat Leon Cupra 280 snatched the front-wheel drive lap record from the previous holder, the Megane RS Trophy, with a time of 7 minutes 58.4 seconds. The next Honda Civic Type R has long been tipped to be the next to clinch the title, but it seems Renault’s performance division has other plans.

Details are scarce, but the sole image provided shows an Akrapovic exhaust system with what appears to be a carbon fibre tip. The roster of the rest of the partners that have signed up are no less impressive, with Michelin providing the tyres and Öhlins upgrading the suspension. Can’t wait? Don’t hold your breath just yet – the car is only set to be unveiled on June 16.

Could this be the long awaited striped out hardcore hot hatch similar to the R26R?

the cost to build a standard recaro seat in japan is 5k.The same recaro seat build in german will cost 7k.same structural integrity, same fabric same design.they cost more because german have higher taxation rate and higher gdp.so,if you think german car are superior because the price is higher ,then your whole life have been a lie.

gone are the days when carmakers prove themselves on the racetrack over a racing season rather than a pointless lap time on the green hell.

Dude, I can see your point there. But carmakers proving themselves on racing seasons are using track-specified cars with certain specs, meanwhile proving using Nurburgring lap times are still valid because the cars are stock, with the same track.
