BMW is currently having international press drives for the BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe, so you should be seeing reviews in publications already. Ours will be up soon enough as well – our man Anthony Lim will be heading there to try it out.
In the meanwhile, they’ve also released a new set of photos of the new M duo, and we’ve uploaded them after the jump in full resolution so you can pick whichever you’d like for stuff like desktop wallpaper usage.
The new M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe lose the previous generation‘s normally-aspirated V8 for a new 3.0 litre twin-turbo inline-six engine. The two single-scroll turbos run in parallel, fed with exhaust gases from three cylinders each. Compared to the V8, power is up from 420 hp to 431 hp at 5,390 to 7,000 rpm. Maximum torque sees a significant hike from 400 Nm to 550 Nm, which is now available across a wider rev band of 1,800 to 5,390 rpm.
The engine revs up to 7,600 rpm, which is relatively high for a turbocharged engine, although not as high as the 3.8 litre V8 in the McLaren MP4-12C which goes up to 8,500 rpm. Zero to 100 km/h takes just 4.1 seconds in both the M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe, assuming of course you use the seven-speed M DCT twin clutch gearbox’s Launch Control.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Since Anthony Lim is going there, can he also ask the Big German bosses why BMW Malaysia is the only BMW dealership in the world and also the only car dealership in the world to give Malaysians ONLY 2 years warranty for their cars?
All other car manufacturers have upped their warranty to 5 years. Even Mercedes, BMW’s archrival are now giving 4 years.
Why is BMW AG taking advantage of Malaysia’s weak consumer laws? BMW Malaysia should be put in the Malaysia Guiness Book of Records for being the ONLY company to give 2 years warranty in Malaysia. That is a record!
Do you honestly think BMW Malaysia gives a shit what journalists say?
It is only when the CUSTOMER boycotts the showroom and goes for brands that actually give a damn about aftersales that things will change.
You know what they say, when the buying stops, the killing will too.
I heard the MD tell BFM interview that this is “standard practice”
just look at what the reality is, even in third world ASEAN, most countries have better warranty than us.
bmw malaysia warranty is officially the worst in the world

Can’t say I like that but I have to agree that we have to boycott it for them to take action. I can’t say for Audi and Mercedes but BMW has some QA/QC issues to iron out over here in Malaysia before they can start extending their warranty.
I love their cars but having to send it in to the workshop for warranty claims is no fun and it gets worse when the warranty expires after two years then you’re on your own!
I’d avoid BMW as my next purchase until they can lower the volume of warranty claims and increase their bloody 2 year warranty to 3 or 4 years a a sign of confidence in their own product.
Because they know Malaysians when got money sure will go either BMW or Merc, it’s a status which shows how rich you are if you can buy these cars.
look at that design, yawn man yawn ! i will sleep another 5 years and wake up is still the same design i bet. engine wise seems good.
cannot afford real M3, then go buy Proton Putra lor…
Same sausage different length…
Looking forward to this! I wonder if the m3 will be stiffer due to the b pillar adding torsional rigidity?
Whichever is better, the car bearing the original m3 moniker will always have a special place in my heart :)
That and I have a strange preference for four doors. I love the m5 for that reason too, especially when it’s packing so much power underneath the hood x3
Big, powerful and strong… It makes me feel so safe <3
i find the M3 & M4 front bumper to be a let down.
the angles and the shapes are so. so disruptive. the flow is just poor.
but the engine is a peach!
Notice that the M3 uses 7 speed dual clutch gearbox now. Although it might be perfect for the European market, expect technical problems when it gets here.
If you dare to voice fiercely you may able to force BMW Malaysia to take special order for the 6-speed manual transmission of M3 or M4.
My current BMW Z5 fully tuned is much better looking than those two.I can smoke them and still have power to spare.
Is that Gold or Green colored M4?
so mega but no interior pics…
Car porn!
