SPIED: Hyundai Veloster Turbo facelift in Germany

hyundai-veloster-turbo-facelift-spied-4

Our trusty European peeping Toms have served up spyshots of the facelifted Hyundai Veloster Turbo. My, how time does fly – the unique Korean ‘2+1’ is already three years old. She’s set to get some surgery when she turns four, though not all of it will be plastic.

We’ll begin with what we can see – those alloys are of a new design. Expect the front and rear bumpers to change, the front grille to emulate the design of those seen on the latest Hyundais (Sonata, Genesis, i10), and the tail lamps to be updated, too. The Turbo’s big, circular and centrally-mounted twin tailpipes are still there, however.

Some covers can be seen inside so there may be some interior changes as well; maybe a new infotainment system as seen on the new Sonata. It is yet unknown if anything underneath will change, but we get the feeling that the 132 PS/158 Nm 1.6 litre Gamma and 184 PS/265 Nm 1.6 litre T-GDI motors will be in office for a second term.

But never mind this – our northern neighbours already have the current Hyundai Veloster Turbo (spotted in Malaysia, last pic in gallery below). When’s our turn?

Don’t care less about the Veloster.

Why on earth that we still don’t get Hyundai’s Turbo GDI engine? (same goes to KIA as well)

Don’t blame the car companies. Our stinking fuel can’t make it. We are paying euro 5 market price for euro 2 fuel. What sort of subsidies are the gov talking about. Launch a new fuel also difficult, how to then find a missing plane, or worse still govern a country properly.

Honestly, I just don’t get the Veloster appeal. The design is very strange to my eyes. It wants to look like a 370Z, at the same time has the proportions of a Myvi. The engine is utterly useless, leaving people to think, that this is a car Katy Perry would drive. Weird but not a show stopper.
