Facelifted Peugeot 5008 officially launched – RM160k

SONY DSC

Nasim has officially launched the facelifted Peugeot 5008 at its new outlet in Johor Bahru. The refreshed seven-seat MPV is on sale now, retailing at RM159,888 on the road with insurance. That is the same price as the outgoing model, and over RM3,000 less than previously estimated.

As previously reported, the new 5008 receives new adaptive bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights as well as a new front fascia, while the interior gains the retractable seven-inch touchscreen, navigation, revised audio controls and colour head-up display from the 3008 facelift.

The big change, of course, is the revised Prince 1.6 litre turbocharged engine, now making 163 hp at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm from 1,400 rpm to 4,250 rpm. Mated to the same six-speed automatic as before, it goes from 0-100 km/h in 10.8 seconds on its way to an electronically-limited top speed of 195 km/h, while returning a fuel consumption figure of 7.9 litres per 100 km.

Elsewhere, the specs remain unchanged, so you still get cruise control, front and rear parking sensors with Available Space Management (ASM), a panoramic roof, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, second-row air-conditioning vents and a second-row multimedia system with displays at the back of the front headrests.

Safety equipment also hasn’t been touched, the new 5008 retaining its six airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, ESP, Distance Alert, anti-whiplash front headrests and ISOFIX mounting points for all three second row seats.

Colours available include Pearl White, Shark Grey, Rich Oak, Artense Grey and Bourrasque Blue. As will all Peugeots sold in Malaysia, the facelifted Peugeot 5008 comes with a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty as well as a 24-hour Peugeot Assistance service.

The new RM6 million Peugeot 3S (sales, service and spare parts) centre, the fifth outlet in Johor Bahru, serves customers in Johor Bahru, Taman Pelangi, Danga Bay, Kempas, Tampoi, Bandar Baru Uda, Majidee, Skudai and Damansara Aliff. Operated by Eurofrance, it features customer lounges, WiFi connectivity, a merchandise store and eight service bays which enable it to serve up to 21 cars a day.

We already have the new Peugeot 5008 on CarBase.my, so you can see the full specifications and equipment as well as compare it to its nearest rivals.

So, why buy the Mazda5 Skyactiv? This is just so much safer. I don’t understand, why can’t these people make 6 airbags a standard in family MPVs.

People are carrying their children in these. Imagine if those added features could have saved the family if unfortunately something happens….

Wow, 1.6L turbo making 163hp and 240nm torque…no wonder the price twice more expensive than Exora CFE…Totally worth the price!!

Also look at the fuel consumption. On proton’s website, it says that the exora uses 7.8l/100km at 90km/h, this is most likely highway consumption. But the peugeot’s highway consumption (not combined) is only 5l/100km

    • Najib, where the 30? on May 21, 2014 at 3:41 pm

Did Najib lie to us about the 30% car price reduction. Already 1 year has passed. All cars look more expensive.

Najib please honour your promise to your rakyat. You promised if we voted you in, we will get 30% cheaper cars. Did you cheat us?

Can any owner of Peugeot comment on the reliability of Peugeot? Saw a lot of 3008 on the road nowadays, any quality issues?

Already went through the forum, wanted to get some info from different source/ website… As far as I know the prince 1.6 engine is not so reliable, wonder if this is true or some owner is just unlucky

Owned a peugeot 408 with prince engine 163hp since 18 months ago. Battery changed at 28k mileage at 3rd party shop with standard price following advice from SC. Had a minor accident and got the car back on the road after a few weeks with several parts replaced. Otherwise ownership is a pleasure and service was a breeze. No major issues. Will definitely consider an upgrade to 5008.

    WOW just WOW!!!

PEUGEOT has greatly improved. no major issues. I have owned local / japs and continental cars and bmw and mercs are less reliable than Peugeot imo.

  • This mid height MPV not so practical. The 3rd row seats are not designed for adults.

3008 at rm153k and 5008 at rm160k, any logic? Down the 3008 price..

maybe it is down to customer preference. maybe pricing isn’t only based on the number of seats in the car but other aspects as well. lifestyle? practicality? perhaps the 3008 sells to a different target market compared to the 5008? and the comparisons that the buyers do would probably be SUV vs SUV or MPV vs MPV?

Peugeot 5008 sister car is the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso.

How come the latest Grand Picasso is totally new lighter platform car while the 5008 is just a facelift?

  • Don’t buy a Peugeot!
    I bought a 5008 in 2013. Worst car ever.
Break down so often for a new car. Repair work range from sensor faulty to pressure pump defect.
Service from Naza is crap, all sort of excuses but don’t know the root cause.

Although they offer 5 years unlimited mileage warranty, if you don’t mind spending time to take the car in for repair, ignore my comment.

Mine is the 2015 model,i get an average of 7.1litre per 100km combined..If i heavy foot it could be much worse..So far no issue..After trading in my 2012 Exora Bold i feel the Peugeot only win by a notch for the century sprint although paper state 240nm..You have to be over 2000rpm to feel the surge kicks in..Still managed to get around 10s or less compared to my previous bold which clock in 10.8s on average.Spacing wise still Exora win but ride quality Peugeot takes all..Advantage of the car is the auto tranny which shift like a silk..I got for around RM143k for a year car which the first owner is an expat.I will do my review on a later date after i reach 60k mileage..My Exora only clock 51k when i trade it in cause i ride my 750cc suzuki gsr bike to work.
