SPIED: Audi Q3 1.4 TFSI at JPJ – new local variant?

Audi-Q3-14-JPJ-0002

Regular contributor Anol Alias has sent us these pictures of an intriguing Audi Q3 1.4 TFSI at JPJ Putrajaya. We say intriguing because the Q3 is currently only available locally with a 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder engine, so this could be a new entry point to the small premium crossover here in Malaysia.

In other markets, the 1.4 litre turbocharged engine produces 148 hp from 5,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm from 1,750 rpm to 3,000 rpm. The 1.4 TFSI variant is only available with front-wheel drive (as the lack of a “quattro” badge on this car shows) and in our market will almost certainly be mated to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission.

Apart from the smaller engine and the removal of all-wheel drive, there doesn’t seem to be anything lost in the transition from the base 2.0 TFSI, with the same bi-xenon projector headlights, LED tail lights and 17-inch wheels. The interior also looks to be the same, too, with dual-zone automatic climate control and the standard 10-speaker Audi Concert sound system.

With the A3 sedan already on its way (expected to be launched before the end of June), Audi distributor Euromobil seems determined to make a push downmarket. A price of under RM200k for this Q3 1.4 TFSI, by any chance?

  • Let’s wait for GLA200 then and compare the price. 209k most like possible. Its kinda impossible to price under 200k because our car here are insanely taxed

Just checked with Euromobil the Q3 1.4 is tentatively priced at RM216k. Not too bad with that kind of specs sans Quattro. Worth to look at it .

That price sounds more like it coz if they priced it below RM200k it will be too close to the A3 1.4 TFSI price BUT does it come with the usual stuff like electric seats and four corner sensors? Skimping out these small features will end up making the car cheap.

Also Audi has a lot to do on the after sales side. Their limited service centers is the main killer now. I dare not drive an Audi to the east coast due to lack of support.

Instead of putting in feature like:
    1) Audi Music Interface (hey, Euromobil, even Honda City has iPod integration)
    2) Taking out the hard riding S-line option as standard (every Q3 review in the world has called out that the S-line package compromises the Q3 ride comfort).

Euromobil inept marketing (which is pretty much sums up their customer service too when someone walks into the Audi dealearship) continue to insist this is a pricing problem and removes everything that was great about the Q3 and gives us a compromised version instead.

I was thinking about going with the Q3 when the Euromobil start realizing that they have made a grave mistake and start giving us Music Interface option and remove the S-line option. They have instead decided to introduce a gimped version and compromise the image of the ideal Q3 that every other car site has been raving about.

Bravo…Euromobil…Bravo. My money is with the NX or the X3. Buhhh bye….

Is it possible to configure your own Audi just like Land Rover and Porsche?

I dream of Mother Theresa sitting in my brand new Euromobil Q3 (no it’s not an Audi, don’t you dare call it Audi).

Mother Theresa: What a nice pop up screen
      Me: Yeah
Mother Theresa: What does it do? Does it do Navi.
      Me: No
Mother Theresa: Can it access my iPod media like my 90K Honda Insight?
      Me: No
Mother Theresa: What does it do then?
      Me: Radio
      Mother Theresa: WTF#%@^#&$^T!()?

Euromobil wants to bring in the Q3 with a Golf engine eh?

Good luck with that, people are already put off by the rubbish service you give to both potential and existing customers. Many of us who cross shopped Audi cars with BMW/Mercedes ended up buying the Merc or BMW as it felt as though that Audi was simply not bothered, compared to the rest. I’d say their support is so bad, you could get more respect and attention in a Bentley dealer. Fix that first then we’ll see.

  • The Audi A3 is now opened for booking at RM 179,900.00 to be delivered in July just before Raya, I suppose. The A3 Quattro could be RM 240K- the authorities have yet to approve pricing on the Quattro.

    Depending on the price. ..

If this q3 without the important element of Quattro already almost making it pointless of an SUV …. and yet be priced ABOVE 200K. ..

    I’d say forget it.

Such a good car marque destroyed by this useless company. The whole A6 hybrid ‘out-of-stock’ issue is a shame! These inefficient, unhelpful idiots working as sales assistants in euromobil have been receiving money for people trying to get the tax-free car and sell it at the premium i heard, complete shame!
