Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG Grand Edition revealed – run-out model with AMG kit, wheels and lower price

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has quietly put up a new variant of the W204 C-Class on its website and Facebook page, called the Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG Grand Edition.

Essentially a C 200 Avantgarde with an AMG Sport styling package, the Grand Edition gets a new front apron, side skirts and rear diffuser design, as well as 18-inch AMG five split-spoke alloy wheels with tyres measuring 225/40 at the front and 255/35 at the back.

No other details are known about this new variant, but the specs and equipment levels of the car elsewhere should remain the same, with a 1.8 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with stop-start producing 184 hp and 250 Nm, mated to a seven-speed 7G-Tronic Plus automatic.

The new kit has not raised the price – in fact, the C 200 AMG Grand Edition now retails at RM242,888 on the road without insurance, a whole RM12,000 less than the regular C 200 Avantgarde. In addition, MBM’s Hire Purchase Agility financing deal allows you to own the car for RM103 a day through a five-year tenure. The Grand Edition comes with a four-year unlimited-mileage warranty.

With added equipment and a reduced price, this is almost certainly a run-out model, which means that MBM must be clearing stocks in anticipation of the local launch of the new W205 C-Class. Shouldn’t be too long now, really.

We’ve found the Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG Grand Edition on oto.my, and we have also input the new model into CarBase.my, so you can view the specs as well as compare it to its nearest rivals.

Sakit for those owners who bought it a few months back but this often happens for a end of life span model…

Anyhow looking forward to the all new C Class and its options and pricing strategy. Hopefully MBM will put decent kit this time around. Keyless entry, navigation and reverse camera ftw!

No point to go with this model since the discount isn’t that significant. Obviously, the new model has significant better design and new engine to replace the old model. Small saving now will cause you a much bigger loss in few months from now. Can’t wait to see the new C-Class launching in Msia.

Just wait a little longer and more discounts will be given.. Nothing special about those skirtings though.. Would prefer them to give more discounts rather than the skirtings..

Not the same engine, do some research. The new cars don a 2L instead of a 1.8L currently.

If you buy this and don’t know (and accept) that a new one is coming, then you deserve being screwed.

You get a car that is still quite decent, at a discount. I’d say they should have sold the car without body kit at an even lower price… that would have made more sense… but given the obsession with body kits in Malaysia…

No resale value, problematic engine and gearbox. Waste money.

For sure, its replacement is a better car. But based on overseas reviews, the new C Class is still not as good as the 3 Series. Even the Lexus IS is a better car, just let down by old engine & old transmission (come on Lexus, you need to embrace turbo & autos with more than 6 speeds).

So is this a good deal? Well yes and no. Its way cheaper thats true. But once the new model comes out, the urmmmm resale value, will drop considerably. So, this discount offered sort of cushions the effect of the RV drop. Since, the 3 series is still the better car, why not buy the 320i instead :) Its around the same price also isnt it.

    • U serious and happy with all these discount? this is supposed to be given by car dealer as it reaches its end of lifecycle. Price reduction is meant that new car is cheaper than the car it replace and not discount when new model is coming. 5% is excise duty drop.

Rear tyre wider, hence smaller aspect ratio. Nothing uncommon about RWD car.

  • 2013 C200 year end promo: RM210k @ Hap Seng Star.

To put in perspective – this C200 should be RM210k minus RM12k (current promo) = RM198k, this is the baseline price that you should push for in view of the impending launch of W205.

    @RM198k for a W204 C200 is great value – even when W205 comes out won’t sakit hati.

still a great value if you are into Merc C-Class, and don’t mind about the age of this car, or a new model is coming up. still look decent enough after all these years in market. amazing.

Those who commented on resale value… Ppl who bought luxury vehicle will not think about RV. What is 30k or 40k for them? If try to count by percentage not by how much, actually all cars’ price drop more or less the same. But I bought a KIA at 75K and after 7 years it just worth 11k… thats painful :-S

  • Ya… Agree the price after discount for thic C200 AMG cost 242k++. Still very expensive… Btw, I don’t think so F30 better than new W205.. Oversea view for F30 maybe good quality.. But Our CKD F30 is suck ..
