UPDATE: The X6 has been officially unveiled, more info here: BMW X6 – full details and photos

Official photos of the new 2015 BMW X6 have been leaked onto the Internet. This initial batch of five images shows us how the second-generation of the car that pioneered the ‘Coupe SUV’ segment looks like.

The new X6 has a very muscular stance, and shares that ‘pontoon’ style design over the rear fender that debuted on its new smaller brother, the BMW X4. Like the previous generation car, the X6 is based on the more conventionally-shaped X5, and should share powertrain and drivetrain options with the X5, which means we’ll see variants like the xDrive35i, xDrive50i and xDrive30d. But will we see an X6 eDrive?

The interior is lifted straight out of the X5, though there’ll likely be different trim options. We can see a sporty M Sport steering wheel in these leaked shots. The shot of the rear bench shows a three-seat bench, but we think there’ll be a two-seater rear option as well.

The X5 and X6 interiors are also differentiated by extra thigh support flanking the gear lever and iDrive controls on the X6, which was also the case with the previous-generation SAC.

Assuming the price of the F16 is around the current X6, this would be a better buy compared to the new Range Rover Sport which carries a ridiculous pricetag.

  • Personally im not a fan of X6 but the look of this one has definitely improved over the previous generation. Although i have to say, I still think that BMW should be stepping up its interior designs as it has been for some times that most of their models interiors look ridiculously the same. No doubt well built with good quality but somehow boring to look at.

the rear is stunning, but the front…..ehm….i am still waiting for the less “hole-y” design from BMW. really don’t know why BMW wants to have some cars with so many “holes” in front. it’s too complicated.

  • Coupe SUV always sooms like an odd design to me and not very practical in terms of luggage space. If you buy just to show off than it’s another story.

  • Nothing spells ostentatious like a BMW X6. Also totally impractical. You want stylish sloped back, buy a super car. You want utility buy an proper SUV with proper head room at the back. You have money burning a hole in a pocket, buy the X6.

there just happened to be quite a number of “money burners” out there, hence the 2nd generation!

      • Yes I know! There’s plenty of people with loads of money but lacks mental acuity.

Buy and Audi R8 if you need a sporty looking vehicle. Buy a X5 if you need utility. Buy an X6 if you equate self-worth to how high you sit above mere mortals and are the attention seeking whore.
