BMW 3 Series GT CKD variants to launch next week?

bmw-malaysia-fb-space

Is BMW Malaysia preparing to launch CKD variants of the BMW 3 Series GT next week? BMW Malaysia posted the above message to their Facebook fan page today. With the main keyword in the posting being ‘Space’, we figure it most likely refers to the BMW 3-Series GT since the header image for the model’s page on BMW Malaysia’s website is themed around the word ‘Space’ as well.

The message adds that more will be ‘shared’ next week, so it could point to a launch next week. Or could it just be referring to the next phase of the teaser campaign?

The CBU BMW 3-Series GT is currently only available as a 328i GT Sport Line, priced at RM349k. Local assembly might pave the way for more variants to be introduced such as a 320i or a 320d.

To learn more about the 3-Series GT, find out more about the specifications and equipment of the 328i GT CBU model, read the CBU car launch report, or read our test drive review.

Sales rep from AB told me launch was gonna happen in Oct…guess he’s wrong?

Knowing this model commands a slightly premium price compared to its sedan brother we could be looking at around RM260-270k for the 320i GT hopefully with more features compared to its brother.

It is confirmed the car is launching soon. Spoke to the dealer last month, order books have opened as of mid May.

2 variants, 320d which will be about 300k, 328i which is about 330k or so, and delivery will commence soon after that. Specifications are like for like for the 328i as the outgoing CBU model. Also, no M Sport will be available for the GT (which is kinda sad.)

Why the gap between 328i and 328i gt sounds appropriate but the 320d gt sounds so much more expensive than the 320d sedan?

      Arrogant prices!

I would assume that the spec list would be significantly better on the 320d GT. i.e.: iDrive touch instead of iDrive without nav on the sedan, probably HiFi audio or something?

They should only sell it on m sport guise where the car would at least look acceptable…
Bmw will always be assc with sporting pretensions..
And the 3 series gt without m sport trim (and without 2 tailpipes) looks plain hideous…

Might as well ckd 4er grancoupe…

The best is buy the pre-reg car since BMW only give 2 years warranty. Wasting money buying new car and yet comes with short warranty. Bad Motor Warranty!

Totally agree! Come on BMW, buck up! Mercedes is more confident with their product that they provide a longer warranty. Warranty speaks volume on itself.

i will definitely get one if they launch ckd 320i gt and price ard 260k with 4 yrs warranty. but the latter seems impossible.

so hoping mbm will launch ckd c300 bluetec diesel hybrid at ard 200k.that will be a great new for many malaysian.

Better CKD the Active Hybrid 5 or 7 similar to what the merc has done for their S400 Hybrid.
