Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced that construction of its new customised warehouse near its Pekan assembly plant is set to begin sometime this month. The 175,000 sq ft facility will be used to house completely knock down (CKD) kits for Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles as well as MB and Mitsubishi FUSO commercial vehicles, with a capacity of 180 complete lots at any one time.
It’s the next move in ramping up production capability in the country for the brand, having recently invested in preparing its assembly line and manpower to build the new W222 Mercedes-Benz S400L Hybrid. The Pekan plant currently assembles S-Class, E-Class and C-Class vehicles, and has built 33,790 MB passenger vehicles to date.
The new warehouse has been commissioned with the capability to accommodate future growth, designed to be able to expand an additional 5,000 square metres in storage capacity. Construction will take approximately 15 months to complete, and the facility is expected to be fully operational by September 2015.

Waiting for more good news like this.
what happen to the new C-class? when can we expect the CKD version to be on sale?? i cant wait that long??? i’m not getting any younger… come on MB, please organize your priority…
According to a close friend of mine who’s working at the assembly plant there, the new-gen C-Class is scheduled to start its assembly early next year as the current-gen C-Class has ended its production last month.
The new lineup of Fuso trucks are also coming next year with new Euro 4 engine as the current Euro 2 engine is only allowed to be assembled up to Dec this year only.
Any chance the new C-class get hybrid CKDed in Pekan? Could end up with a high spec wagon C-Class plug-in hybrid for $240k? That would be the most interesting development.
Good news. The thing that they already do decade ago on their motherland.
We need customized car before buy
its the warehouse that is customized, not the car customization program. read properly lah. *slaps head*
