This red Citroen C4 Grand Picasso was sighted at JPJ Putrajaya by our regular spymen ApexKit and Anol Alias today. Malaysian Citroen distributor Naza Euro Motors told us in February that the French MPV would be coming to Malaysia by the end of 2014, so it’s about time that it surfaced at JPJ.
The C4 Grand Picasso would be the first non-DS Citroen car to be launched in Malaysia since Naza Euro Motors took over the Citroen distributorship, although the C5 did quietly emerge for a short time. The nameplate isn’t new though; the previous-gen C4 Grand Picasso was offered by Brooklands, the pre-Naza official distributor.
The curious thing about this particular Citroen C4 Grand Picasso is the badging on its rear. We can see a BlueHDi badge, which points to a 2.0 litre turbodiesel engine under the hood, producing 148 hp and 370 Nm of torque.
Could Naza Euro Motors be looking to bring a diesel version of this MPV in as one of the variants on offer? We don’t really know as we’ve seen all kinds of diesel Peugeots at JPJ Putrajaya before but none of them (other than the 508 HDi) have been launched by NEM’s sister company Nasim.
The Citroen has got quite a unique look – where MPVs of this size are usually big slabs of metal with some design at the front and the rear to keep the car recognisable as belonging to a certain marque, Citroen has put a lot of effort into the C4 Grand Picasso’s styling, making it somewhat of a “designer MPV”.
The seven-seater has seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, and sits on the PSA Group’s EMP2 platform with a 2,840 mm wheelbase. This happens to be a segment longer than the Peugeot 5008‘s 2,727 mm wheelbase, so we’re wagering on a price tag that could be a little higher the recently-facelifted Pug as well. I’ll be surprised if @kadajawi doesn’t appear on the comment section of this article.
I love the front.
Excellent mve,my concern is only abt price tag, shouldnt be sky rocket high, but guaranteed that it would b hi fuel efficient diesel mpv,
great to see that Naza group is putting in effort to bring in more diesel marque into our automotive scene.
although our local diesel grade could be better; i am rather happy to see far sufficient number of common rail diesel vehicles on our street running lesser problematic than i had anticipated.
well done Naza.
tq for sharing. love u anol.
It is about time , such a long wait it has been for this beau to reach our shores. For awhile I was seriously wondering if Only DS line would be sold here but this prove normal Citroen models have every chance to be here
It is a popular car overseas, and also the one Citroen that did sell in Malaysia. Makes sense to bring it in. However if other normal Citroen are brought in… I wouldn’t hold my breath.
I’m also curious if they will also bring in the petrol version.
But all cars will be CBU I guess? That is too bad :(
wow..are they seriously going to bring this diesel version? If yes, i will consider this…
exterior wise, not so good looking, but the view from inside, with large glass front side, should have an interesting view. ergonomic front seat also looks so comfortable.
Actually it is quite good looking in reality. Seen quite a few now, they look special and quite nice, especially with those DRL.
i think it looks unbelievably amazing for an MPV, compare that with a mazda biante, nissan serena or toyota estima.
Actually it is better in the flesh. Pls go to Naza this Saturday to have a look- I have seen it in Europe – ‘What car’ UK MpV of 2013/14
They have picked a nice interior color scheme, though I am a bit worried it might blind the driver. But what a car. Looks good, comfortable, practical, … hopefully it will be successful in Malaysia.
It’s one of the very few MPVs that have that “want one” vibe. Bring this in quickly! Also excited to see the new S-max.
any chance they’ll bring in the non-Grand (5 seater) version as well?
Saw this MPV on display at 1U Old wingz outdoor event!
