Ops Warta – crackdown on traffic offenders begins Monday, Ops Cermin Gelap put on hold?

ops-warta

From Monday, the police will be launching Ops Warta, a major crackdown on traffic offenders throughout the country, reports Bernama.

The operation is aimed at nabbing traffic offenders who have yet to settle summonses totalling RM1.9 million and those facing arrest warrants for traffic offences, according to federal traffic police chief SAC Mohd Fuad Abd Latiff.

“The operations this time will also focus on vehicles with number plates that flout the law and beacon lights or strobe lights that do not have Road Transport Department (JPJ) approval,” he said on the Royal Malaysia Police’s Facebook account today.

“We have already given motorists adequate time to rectify their vehicles. Those with strobe lights should remove them immediately as we had given them until June 1 to do so,” he told The Star.

“Those with illegal licence plates still have until June 16 to rectify those modifications.”

Mohd Fuad also said the police were deferring their operations on tinted vehicles until the Transport ministry announces a decision on its review of regulations governing tinting of vehicle glass. Does that mean Ops Cermin Gelap has been deferred from June 16?

      • Polis - "Encik mahu settle?" on Jun 12, 2014 at 1:20 pm

First and foremost, before all this Ops is done, the polis must sort out their corruption first. Nearly every single Malaysian has been stopped by polis for various offences. And each of those stopped can verify one thing, either they have willingly bribed the officer or the officer has boldly asked for a bribe.

SAC Fuad, sort this out. It is a very big problem in Malaysia. It is chicken and egg story. Because traffic offenders know they can get away with anything, they just break the law. They don’t care. They attitude is “Get caught get caught lah”. Offenders in Malaysia are not scared of the law because they know they can bribe the officer on the spot and immediately the saman does a David Copperfield and disappears. Magic (Ajaib). Even David Copperfield also kalah when making things disappear like our Polis Trafik guys.

Infact each and every Polis Trafik got potential to become a David Copperfield themselves. Because, whatever saman they write, it suddenly can disappear.

So Fuad, no need to do operasi and all that. Sort the corruption amongst Traffic Officers first.

You see the comments here alone, it can give you an idea of what people think of PDRM and Polis Trafik. Everyone here saying about Duit Raya and all that. Go and talk about Australian, British, Singapore Polis, nobody will make jokes about duit raya.

That is the confidence Malaysians have about the Polis Trafik.

Paul Tan should put a survey and ask readers, have you ever bribed a polis officer or has a polis officer asked you for a bribe. I bet, it will be full of “Yes” answers in the poll.

Until the enforcement authorities change their attitude in Malaysia and abolish corruption, crime and traffic offence will be rampant. This applies to all officers of enforcement. Even your small fry enforcement officer who comes to your house to check aedes and dengue larvae. Oh btw, do you know why Malaysia is full of dengue cases? It is because all those enforcement officers checking for dengue larvae keep on taking bribe after bribe. Ha Ha. got even theat lady officer who bring her own aedes larvae to put into people’s home and ask them for a bribe to escape saman.

Anyway Fuad, time to change the attitude of your force. Now your officers also very berani. they just ask outright. For most Malaysians, it is a good deal. Pay RM50 to escape RM300. That is the deal of the century. Who won’t take it?

No matter how alim one can be, if you kena RM300 saman and officer ask you for RM50 to do a David Copperfield and make magic and make the saman disappear, you also will give in.

So to all those scumbags that will condemn my post saying that people who offer bribes are at fault, please lah. Don’t be a hippocrate. So many of you love to condemn people who give bribes but each and every one of you have bribed a polis officer or an enforcement officer at least once in your life.

I also agreed this penalty should be imposed to offender. But multiple summon means nothing to Malaysian nowadays. They should revise the penalty to be more effective to prevent, not to summon coz police will looks what they want is your hard earned money, not to educate or prevent the offender from did the same offence again.
I am suggesting public service or suspend their license for certain time to those who have more than five summons. This will somehow make them aware to the traffic laws.

Can we forget about tinted glass for the time being.

There are more serious problems to solve in this country.

As for the number plates, the gov should instead nab those accessories shop who does not play by the rules. If a tree keeps bearing bad fruits, remove the roots instead of always trimming the branches. That is how you solve the problem once and for all.

    Yet another wayang kulit.
Aren’t traffic rules and regulations suppose to be enforced strictly at all times?

What’s the point of summonses when they fail to collect or punish those who don’t pay?
The best thing in Malaysia is they are encouraging people not to pay by giving discounts to those who fail to pay their summons on time.
So there’s really no reason to pay earlier or on time.

I think they can defer the implementation of gst by really enforcing and collecting summonses alone.

The picture posted above will net pdrm a minimum of 30 summons.
Stopping on pedestrian crossing and after the solid white line are already two offences multiply with the number of motors and cars you already get more than 30 summonses issued on a single red light run.

However we are living in Malaysia so those of fences are considered tak apelah sekejap saje.

    WHAT IS SUMMON?
