Looks like the Stealth Pack isn’t the only new thing for the Range Rover Sport that is coming to the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week – Land Rover has teased a hotted-up version of the already sporty SUV, rumoured to be called the Range Rover Sport RS.
We’ve seen spyshots of the new high-performance off-roader before, so we know it will come with a deeper, more aggressive front bumper and rear valence design, as well as quad exhaust pipes. This will surely make for one mean-looking SUV.
The first car developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s new skunkworks Special Vehicle Operations division (née Engineered To Order), the RS will take on the likes of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and the upcoming BMW X5 M and X6 M. To that end, it is expected to feature the tweaked 5.0 litre supercharged V8 that also resides in the Jaguar F-Type R, XKR-S and XFR-S.
In those applications, the engine produces 550 PS and 680 Nm, 40 PS and 55 Nm more than the regular Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Power will be sent to all four wheels via the “Quickshift” eight-speed automatic transmission used on Jaguar’s speediest models. Performance figures being bandied about by various sources include a 0-100 km/h time of about 4.5 seconds and a top speed of about 265 km/h.
