Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has begun selling the 2014 Land Rover Freelander 2. The 2014 model year L359 arrives here, having made a quiet ‘public’ debut at the Angling & Outdoor Recreational Fair 2014 in Shah Alam last weekend.
It’s the second major facelift for the SUV – exterior changes are led by new xenon headlamps featuring a LED array and daytime running lights (previously regular projector headlights), improved foglamps as well as a redesigned front bumper. At the back, there’s a new LED combination tail lamp design.
Inside, the cabin has been given a good rework – changes abound to the steering wheel (new mounted joystick key) and instrument panel, the latter now featuring a five-inch colour TFT info display, but the centre console and layout is the area where the most visual differences are to be had.
Elsewhere, the handbrake is now electronic, and the audio system has also been changed, a Hi Line 380 watt Meridian Audio system replacing the previous Alpine kit.
Lastly, while the Terrain Response system continues on with its four settings (General, Snow/Gravel, Mud Ruts and Sand), mode selection is now via a slide bar compared to the rotary system before. Other standard equipment includes a tilt and slide sunroof, cruise control, 19-inch alloy wheels.
The 2014MY Freelander 2 is available as a 240 PS and 340 Nm 2.0L Si4 SE petrol as well as a 190 PS and 420 Nm 2.2L SD4 HSE diesel, both powertrains matched to a six-speed auto with CommandShift.
Aside from a baseline Fuji White solid paint, exterior shades for the SE are Loire Blue and Santorini Black, with a choice of ebony or almond leather upholstery. The HSE, meanwhile, adds Indus Silver and Orkney Grey to the palette.
Pricing for the 2014MY Freelander 2 starts from RM299,888 for the 2.2L SD4 diesel and RM319,888 for the 2.0 Si4 petrol, both on-the-road without insurance. Opting for metallic paint adds on RM4,000 from a solid paint shade. For comparison via Carbase, the outgoing 2.2L SD4 HSE is listed as going for RM289,888, while the lower-spec 2.0 Si4 S is RM293,888.

may as well just get a lightly used evoque
u hv to be nuts to buy this, design is from 90s, get an evoque or Q3, X3 etc, or wait for the new freelander in 2015
At first I thought its the Discovery but second look its only the Freelander. Only for the truly rich.
Better buy that China-brand Haval small SUV RM50K
Good luck.
I’ll rather take Sam Loo’s advise and get a Hilux.
sage advice there.
Hope that new Freelander upgrade it’s safety feature. Previous model just score 2 stars NCAP.
ugly interior, no?
Interior looks cheap like Korean/Japs car and no rear aircond vent ? 300k is a rip off @:@
Not only that, they seats are not electric either!
Honestly, being a Landie/Rangie fan, I find this stupid. It is too expensive. Why get this when you could get the 6 speed Evoque for the same price! And the Evoque looks, feels and is so much nicer than this.
pls dun increased the price la…
u said reduce the price still haven’t fufill lol…
hmph
Land Rover prices tend to go up rapidly across the range. Not a good idea for a brand that is famous for being unreliable.
RM300k is a lot of money for this car. It is even more expensive than the diesel BmW X1 which is more fun to drive. Given the fact that most SUV owners don’t really go off-roading these days, I’d go for the baby Bimmer SUV.
lol great job sime darby
Thumbs down for the Land Rover brand for all their overpriced products.
No wonder you are selling in such small quantities every year.
nice 2 sunroofs, analog clock, seat but
unimpressive dashboard, steering wheel and also price…
whoa… this is one ugly piece of ” BEEP “. What a ripoff
bullshit the interior looks so boring the new xtrail way better
The last time it came in with similar price tag RM290k CBU and after ckp it becomes RM190k…same pattern i guess this time.
i would rather buy subaru forester xt turbo..more powerful and 100k cheaper..probably more reliable too..
come on, clearly the newly launched XC60 with new engine and new gearbox at 11k cheaper is completely no brainer
