Seat Leon X-Perience – rugged wagon is latest variant

SEAT Leon X-Perience-07

The Seat Leon family gets a new member and it’s a rugged estate. The daftly named Seat Leon X-Perience joins the Leon SC three-door hatch, Leon five-door hatch, Leon ST wagon and the Leon Cupra hot hatch.

Based on the Leon ST, the X-Perience is equipped with electronically controlled four-wheel drive, “all-road suspension” with 15 mm extra ground clearance, an “off-road look” and a revised interior to match the image.

Looks wise, the X-Perience gets protection moulding on the door sills and wheel arches, integrated fog lamps with cornering light function, and a front spoiler in aluminium-look. The rear end is distinguished by a new bumper with an aluminium-look insert and chromed end pipes. The roof rail is anodised in black. Full LED headlamps are optional.

Inside, it looks unique with brown Alcantara, orange stitching and X-Perience logos on the door sills and steering wheel. Those who don’t like the look can opt for black and grey fabric or black leather. The Seat Easy Connect operating system’s touch screen has proximity sensors, which automatically switches from display mode to operating mode when your finger approaches it.

The radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control is on the options list, as is Front Assist with city emergency braking function. Like Volvo’s City Safety, the latter warns the driver acoustically and visually, and primes the braking system when it identifies a critical risk of rear-end collision. At speeds of 5 to 30 km/h, it can react at the last second with emergency braking.

In the engine department, buyers can choose from a 184 PS/380 Nm 2.0 TDI, 150 PS/320 Nm 2.0 TDI and a base 110 PS/250 Nm 1.6 diesel. The sole petrol engine on offer is a 1.8 TSI with 180 PS and 280 Nm. Both it and the top TDI engine are paired with VW Group’s DSG gearbox.

Suprima better. We have lotus handling. Wonder why Proton don’t rebatch Lotus and sell in Malaysia? Then we have chance for real Lotus, instead of fake Lotus all the time. Cause China all also lotus, but fake one.

    Ah. My dream car.

PT has forgotten to mention that the car, besides being able to adjust the speed to the car in front, can also steer itself. Though if it notices that you’re not touching the wheel for 7 seconds it will start to warn you, but still a quite useful feature.
