SPYSHOTS: Kia Sorento – third-gen spotted testing

Kia-Sorento-003

The next-generation Kia Sorento has been spotted by our European spies undergoing testing in Switzerland. The third iteration of the company’s seven-seater crossover is expected to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. The Sorento shares underpinings with the Hyundai Santa Fe.

From the front, it appears the new Sorento will inherit the recently-unveiled Carnival/Sedona’s oversized interpretation of Kia’s signature “tiger nose” grille. Elsewhere, rounder surfaces hints at a car that will look sleeker and more modern than its bluff, brutish predecessors.

It also seems to have grown significantly in size, particularly in the rear overhang, presumably for the benefit of third-row passengers. We wonder if Kia will follow Hyundai’s route of separating the model into short wheelbase and long wheelbase models.

Engine choices for the new Sorento are expected to be carried over from the current model, which is offered with 2.4 litre inline-four and 3.5 litre V6 petrol engines as well as a 2.2 litre turbodiesel four. A plug-in hybrid model is also rumoured to be available at launch with a 2.3 litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor and a 47 kWh lithium-polymer battery.

Kia Sorento in the US is USD24,100. In Malaysia it beocmes RM170,000.

Ada logic? Where is Najib’s promise for lower car prices?

Someone said Sorento in USA is 24k and Malaysia is RM170k. Boleh turun 24k.. wait till our Ringgit and USD 1:1… So we can buy from KIA in USD… very cheap without the exchange rates.

Kia you are the greatest thing to happen to
South Korea, Just don’t worry about your resale value its not important to the whole world. RV is only important to a very small Malaysia ie a place where there are so many Idiots……Really Sad That Cars like the Cute Picanto is not selling well umh umh……its very Sad.

Hyundai you on the other hand are going backwards where your new Sonata does not look like a car from 2014 but 2008. So now I know way Proton decided to make the Preve look conservative ie like VW GOLF because a simple design will last longer ….
