VIDEO: Next smart fortwo and forfour teased again

Daimler has uploaded another teaser video of the upcoming smart fortwo and forfour on its YouTube channel ahead of the world debuts of both cars expected to be as early as next week.

The video features illustrations of the side profiles of the two city cars, showcasing typical smart design cues such as the tridion safety cell and wheel-at-each-corner stance. Also expected to appear on the new smarts are some of the details, such as the hexagonal motif inside and out, that have been explored by the company’s latest concepts such as the for-us, forstars and fourjoy.

The new fortwo and forfour will be based on the new Renault Twingo, bringing both nameplates onto a shared platform for the first time (the previous-generation forfour was based on the Mitsubishi Colt and was not related to the fortwo).

Also expected to be shared with the Twingo are its three-cylinder engines – a 70 hp/91 Nm 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated unit and a 90 hp/135 Nm 898 cc turbocharged mill. Both cars will reportedly be offered with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed dual clutch transmission, bringing an end to the much-maligned automated manual gearbox that was offered on the previous two generations of the fortwo.

Whoever impose high duties to these cars resulting them less affordable to most peoples is commiting crime against basic human right and should be jailed…
