Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has recorded a 24% jump in sales for the first six months of 2014 compared to the same period last year, registering a total of 4,536 units from January to June. The increase was led by Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles, which registered 3,366 units, a growth of 48%.
The 1H2014 growth was spearheaded by two models that were launched in March – the CLA and S-Class. The CLA appeals to a new target group and accounted for 7% of total sales, while the W222 S-Class registered an amazing 126% increase.
“This uptrend is expected to continue into the second half. It is a direct result of our various investments internally, as well as our extensive dealer network. In addition, our four-year extended warranty programme, which came into effect last year, is getting good response from customers,” said MBM president and CEO Roland Folger.
“It has been a most exciting first half. From the S 400 L Hybrid qualifying and receiving full duty exemptions; to breaking ground on our new customised warehouse located in Pekan; to having the Minister of Youth and Sports officiate the 30th anniversary celebrations of our Apprentice Training Centre in Glenmarie. We are also very happy to be contributing to the increase in Mercedes-Benz global sales figures,” Folger added.
On the global scale, Mercedes-Benz posted the strongest half-year sales results in the company’s history, handing over 783,520 vehicles to customers worldwide from January to June.
“Mercedes-Benz Malaysia remains highly committed to the Malaysia market; to growing and supporting our dealer network; and of course, to our customers. With the local assembly of the S 400 L Hybrid currently well underway, we also hope to contribute in helping Malaysia fulfil its ambition of becoming a regional EEV hub,” Folger concluded.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Bucket up BMW, Merc striking back and more to come… sales will go even higher when New C Class in the list.
Mercedes is good, no doubt. Big, luxury, comfort, class… but expensive!
Wanna get similar things with much cheaper price? Toyota is your best choice.
BMW sales are so bad. Every year, they bullshit the sales figures because they don’t include the fleet cars bought by Sime Darby their parent company. Sime Darby buys about 1000 BMW cars for Hertz Rental, a company they own to be used as lease cars for Sime Darby VP1 designition.
The other BMW sales is always some even like Golf or some OIC Conference. BMW will supply the cars for the officials.
So in a year, BMW sales are so small. So puny. They are no where compared to Mercedes. It is just playing with figures.
So even with small sales, BMW Malaysia so scared to give anything more than 2 years warranty on their cars. As said by many people, BMW Malaysia is the only car company in the world, not just Malaysia, but in the world, to give a mere 2 years warranty.
Mercedes gives 4 years warranty for their cars. This is very important because anything goes wrong after the warranty period, you will get a heart attack! Paying 20k or 30k for parts outside warranty is very normal.
So, now you see why Mercedes does much better than BMW.
“BMW Service and Repair Inclusive (BS+RI)* package for up to five years or 100,000 km. This means that you get an extra two years over the standard three-year BMW BS+RI package to make your ownership experience enjoyable and worry free.” This qoute is from Paultan.
Now we can see unehtical merc salesman like you is a liar.
Merc salesman is really sick with all these lies. This make me turn away from mercedes and buy VW instead.
So, you are saying cars purchased by Sime Darby alone is enough to push the sales figures up the charts?? Thats not a very intelligent remark to make. I am not a Beemer fan, but this remark is plain dumb.
Please don’t compare Mercedes with a Toyota. What an insult to the three pointed star. The car is expensive because you cannot afford it. Plain bunch of sour grapes.
Don’t red eyes guys !
Work harder to get one !
Complain less ; work more !
Work hard or drive a Proton.
bila mau CKD itu CLA?
They won’t bro!
This shows rational for the fuel subsidy rationalisation programme which gov about to implement. There r still lot of rich ppls out there.
I am all for it if that cut the diesel / petrol smugglers away, and money save to be used on the right places and people. Not for some cronies to take away our money again !!
I am happy if there are many rich ppl out there because they work hard to get it.
I hate it when I see some cronies face fella and corrupted officers sit in one !!
Was informed that a Chinese daily reported that MB has sold all their 1,000 quota of S400L Hybrid until 31 Dec 2015 and new bookings at extra RM300,000 now. Any truth on that?
We saw price cut. The price was attractive.
If MB drops into the hands of UMW and SD, we know what will happen le.
Yes, now the S400L price is at RM899,888.00 as of 19/7/2014. Mercedes Benz Malaysia claimed that all of it 1000 units is taken but if you ask me, its more of a issues to produce hence this is a way to stop the waves of bookings. Just go to any dealership and ask, has any CKD S Class being deliver yet?
sign of rich is getting richer, poor is getting poorer?
The reality is this, Mercedes has done a very commendable job in refreshing their whole lineup. While BMW has “paused” with only the rather disappointing 1 series, and the face lifted 5 series without the Intergral Active Steering introduced in the last 12 months, Mercedes was smart to take advantage of the very impressive A class, the rather gorgeous CLA, the new E class and the shocker S400L to turn around their sales in the last 12 months. Plus, fit and finish on the Mercedes seems to be significantly better than the BMWs made by Inokom.
I am genuinely impressed by MB’s efforts and hope they do keep it up. On the other hand, I do hope the BMW realise it is not a 1 man show anymore in the luxury segment, and Mercedes is making some exciting cars too now.
This is coming from a current BMW user mind you. Credit must be given when due.
I’m SO loving the W220 and 221. Imagine the W220 even after 9 years, not a single problem. Just normal wear and tear and normal servicing. Sometimes buying cars is like buying veges. It looks good on the outside but perhaps luck wasn’t on our side, it gets slightly problematic. But I must say the Merc has one of the smoothest engines around. Not even the Audi can match this. Kudos tri-star brand. Keep up the good work!
Sorry. The W221 I mean. haha
To me, Mercedes Benz will always be the best among all German car marques – it is always classy, stoic, dependable and serious bordering reserved but never come across in any way intimidating even with their current sportier theme and their sportier models.
I wonder why BMW only gives 2 year warranty?.
It is telling that they have no confidence in their product..rite. Dont talk about BSRI which is not warranty. Get yout facts right.
