Citroen DS3 Racing on display at Glenmarie showroom

DS3R_Ext_35

We got word that the Citroen DS3 Racing was on display at Naza Euro Motors’ Glenmarie showroom, so we headed out to give you these pictures of the hot “Different Spirit” supermini.

More than simply a Peugeot 208 GTi dressed in slightly more fashionable clothing, the DS3 Racing features the same 1.6 litre turbocharged and direct-injected Prince engine as the Pug, but tuned to produce seven more horses for a total of 207 hp. Torque remains the same at 275 Nm; mind you, that’s still plenty enough to fire the DS3 Racing to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 235 km/h.

That level of performance is channeled to the road through the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The suspension settings have been revised, new dampers have been fitted, the front and rear tracks have been widened by 30 mm and the ride height has been lowered by 15 mm. Stopping power is provided by four-piston brake callipers and uprated discs at the front.

Aesthetically, the DS3 Racing is offered in two colour schemes – Obsidian Black with a Sport Orange roof as seen here, and Polar White with a Carbon Grey roof. 18-inch wheels are wrapped in 215/40 rubber and are matched to the colour of the roof, while the front splitter, wheel arch extensions, side rubbing strips and rear diffuser are all made from real carbon fibre.

The use of carbon fibre continues inside on the centre console, steering wheel and door inserts, and the dashboard fascia trim also matches the roof colour. Standard equipment includes automatic air conditioning, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity and an eight-speaker sound system.

Unfortunately, the sales reps present were adamant that there is no plans to bring in the limited-to-2,500-units DS3 Racing to our shores. That’s a right shame, but hey, there’s already a small, fairly affordable French hot hatch in our market. And if you insist on having the Citroen’s unique style, the standard DS3 1.6 VTi 120 is available for RM117,888.

i prefer this to the 208 GTI. looks much nicer. I think its better that both the 208 & DS3 share the same engine & gearbox, at least getting spare parts will be much easier. its a shame Naza is not bringing this in, but I can understand their logic. I am getting sick and tired of looking at golf gti! we need more varieties!

I know that in the UK the DS3 Racing is a bit more expensive than the 208 GTi but I prefer this than that. I really like the 208 too don’t get me wrong but I prefer the DS3R.
Oh and I think the only reason Naza isn’t selling this model is because it’s all sold out. Initially they were only supposed to make 1000 units but then increased to 2400 units worldwide.

No plans… revealed yet. A smart move for Citroen to test the waters first, similar with how they initially tested waters with the 208GTI. Looks nice though.

  • if there is no plan on selling this model, then why the heck they sent it to JPJ in the first place? display/show car no need to register, or this particular is the only one in malaysia to be registered ?

rear is okay with me, but the front is a lil errr…

getting closer n closer to compete with mini…just lack of stylish interior and technologies inside the cabin but anyway still i think Citroen deserve a “Good Job” tho.
