Infiniti enters Vietnam market with QX70, QX80 SUVs

Infiniti HCMC Vietnam

Infiniti has entered the Vietnam market. Nissan’s premium brand recently inaugurated its first Infiniti Center in Ho Chi Minh City, which will house the QX80 large SUV and QX70 crossover. The new facility adopts the brand’s IREDI (Infiniti Retail Environment Design Initiative) design concept.

The Vietnamese entry is part of the next step in Infiniti’s quest to transform itself into a global challenger brand. It was earlier announced that the brand had achieved record global sales in the first half of 2014 by delivering more than 100k units, up 30% compared with a year ago.

Monthly sales records were broken in April, May and June, and the brand grew in 31 markets around the world, including key markets such as the US, China, Canada, Western Europe and the Middle East.

Infiniti is also making progress towards expanding its product portfolio. The lineup will increase by 60% over the next five years (compact hatch on the cards), and the number of engines and transmissions will more than double. By starting production in China later this year, in the UK in 2015 and Mexico in 2017, Infiniti will extend its current manufacturing footprint from Japan and the US to five countries on three continents.

In Malaysia, Infiniti will be launching the Q50 sedan very soon. The 3 Series and C-Class rival will be available as a 2.0 turbo (drivetrain from Mercedes) or hybrid, and we hear that prices will be attractive for a CBU Japan model. Find out more details and read our first drive report.

Assemble the hybrid version here to enjoy the tax free incentive. It will definitely increase the presence of this brand. The downside is that it will dilute the prestige of ownership when every man and his uncle is able to drive one, like all those recond grey market Beemers and Mercs.
