Bernama reports that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will be looking into the durability of road tax stickers, following complaints that the existing ones fade and tear easily.
JPJ director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad said corrective actions will be taken to improve the quality in future issues of the tax stickers, and that motorists could replace faded or torn tax stickers at any JPJ office, for free.
Meanwhile, Ismail said JPJ detected 33,358 traffic offences nationwide during the Aidilfitri festive period, between July 21 and August 5. Enforcement teams checked 133,144 vehicles and took action on 25,188 motorists for various offences, he said.
Of these, 10,524 were for non-possession of a valid driving licence; no road tax (8,815); not wearing safety helmets, overtaking on double lines or on the left, and not wearing seat belts (7,160); offences of a technical nature (4,342); violation of the Land Transport Act (554); violation of the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Act (423) and other offences (1,540).
Last year, JPJ issued a total of 460,000 traffic summonses – over 80% of which involved expired driving licences and lapsed road taxes.
Meanwhile, Britain, who has seen its motorists display the legendary ‘tax disc’ on their windscreens since 1921, is set to switch to an electronic system this October, with automatic number plate recognition cameras providing enforcement.

It took them that long? wow
Ehhhh….. dont say like that ma….
they just bangun dari tidur.
Lepas tu “cepat cepat” buat utk kite semua.
You know why they are looking at it now? Simple. It is because some Datuk is short of money and its time to give his company the multi billion contract to issue new stickers.
That is how Malaysia works. No need to crack your head. It is some lazy Datuk, who has 4 wives and plays golf the whole day, he will get the contract because he must have whispered to Putrajaya that he is short of money.
But most probably it is the, cucu, anak angkat, anak mertua, kakar mertua of the JPJ big boss who will get this contract!
Open Road Tolling (ORT) is free flow tolling without toll house. The users are able to drive through the plaza toll at highway speeds w/o having to slow down to pay the toll.
With free flow at road speeds condition would serve the purpose of eliminate bottleneck issue of users slowing down to pay toll. Which is one of the key factor causing congestion in Msia.
Same ROAD TAX STICKER used since day1 implementation why isdue observed today? Just refer years back how it did w/o issue than solve the problem, no need spend more time to study.
BETTER SPEND TIME IN REDUCE TRAFFIC CONGESTION RATHER THAN REVIEW ROAD TAX QUALITY.
OMG… I hate this bloody fragile sticker…Puih…
JPJ like other agencies will always announce Study this, Survey that, but when comes to Implementation, nobody knows because they would have given the fat juicy contract to their crony, saudara, orang atas dll.
BTW What happened to the tinted windscreen study???
good la…change back to paper..no need stick stupid sticker to my glass
Time to spend more R&D fee to get more durable sticker, lol!
Which company awarded this project?
Yes, the sticker is fragile. JPJ should test on that, so does Proton’s build quality.
after all these years????how many meeting you held in a year?
Most probably coz a crony company had been awarded the contract to produce those lousy stickers for donno how many years.
That’s why they couldn’t do anything eventhough there were big quality issues.
Do not stick directly on the screen. It will damage your screen. Put on a piece of plastic first.
always a pain to take out the old one n stick a new one…thats y u see alot of ppl dont bother taking out the old one n jus fill up the left side of the windshield with old road tax stickers…
#MalaysianArt
Finally…after all the trouble now only they notice…
Almighty Snack Bar,
Haha.. after so so many years..
But what to do, there are still many things that are suppose to be done but we are still waiting..
Lets all wait and wait and wait and wait and wait until the majority of Malaysians wake up.
Currently from what we can see, if we don’t change, Malaysia will go down the drain.
Hidup Hidup Almighty Snack Bar!
Implement GST that time Govt untung sudah banyak ma. Just scrap the roadtax la. All passenger vehicle no need roadtax. Apply only to commercial vehicles.

Increase Road tax, but eliminate tolls.
